England finish top of Group L on 7 points. Croatia finish second on 6 points, after their 2-1 win against Ghana today. Ghana finish third, and qualify anyway, on 4 points. 

As it stands, England will face Senegal in the Round of 32.

FULL TIME! England victorious against Panama, 2-0! They had to wait more than an hour for their first goal, but ultimately Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane struck in the second half to fire them to victory and top spot in Group L! 

Panama end their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with zero points and zero goals, but they gave England a tough fight today.

Croatia have taken the lead once again in their clash against Ghana, which is the other Group L game going on simultaneously. Nikola Vlasic has scored in the 83rd minute to put Croatia 2-1 in front. This means they would finish second in the group, with Ghana dropping to third.

Panama's Jose Fajardo goes through on goal after a lovely ball from the midfield, and he slots it into the goal past Jordan Pickford, but it's ruled out for offside! Very close call, but looks like Fajardo was just in front of England's last defender.

Marcus Rashford advances into the box with pace and skill, but looks to find room for a shot instead of passing. He is forced to pass it backwards eventually, but then makes a clever run to the back post as a cross comes in. Ultimately, his final shot is also wide of goal.

Here's a video of Harry Kane's goal against Panama today. A brilliant cross by Bellingham and a great header by Kane to make it 2-0 for England. Kane is taken off in the 83rd minute, being replaced by veteran midfielder Jordan Henderson.

Fortunes have reversed in Group L, in the matter of minutes. Ghana have equalised against Croatia in the 73rd minute of the other Group L game. Ghana defender Derrick Luckassen has scored to make it 1-1. As things stand, England will top Group L, Ghana will finish second, while Croatia will still go through in third!

GOOOAAAALLL! England have another, it's Harry Kane! Bellingham turns provider this time, delivering a superb cross into the box for Kane, who heads it in! That takes him to 11 World Cup goals. Harry Kane is now England's all-time World Cup top-scorer by himself, going past Gary Lineker's tally of 10.

GOOOAAAALLLL! Jude Bellingham to England's rescue! Corner whipped in by Saka, Bellingham toe-pokes it into the goal at the near-post. Very, very clever from England's No. 10. Much like in the Euros in 2024, Bellingham is the saviour for England on the big stage.

England right-back Jarell Quansah is down with an injury. This is a big worry for England, who are already short on right-backs, after injuries to Reece James and Tino Livramento. Looks like Quansah will be substituted.

Great chance for England, Harry Kane finds himself through with the goal in sight, he slams it across goal, but he's denied by Panama goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera. Very good save!

Lovely turn in midfield from Panama's Jose Luis Rodriguez, who then drives forward and takes a curling attempt towards the England goal. It ends up going inches over the bar. Jordan Pickford was beaten, but unfortunately for Panama, the shot wasn't on target.

Cross in from the left wing towards Harry Kane in the box. Kane doesn't get a touch, but Panama fail to clear it properly. It's a haphazard clearance, that deflects off another Panama player and goes out for a corner, inches over their own goal! Luck favours Panama, that could've easily gone into their own net.

Panama spring on the counter-attack. It's a good throughball to Cristian Martinez, who goes 1v1 against Nico O'Reilly. Martinez goes to ground ultimately in the duel. No foul, but it looks like his head collided with O'Reilly's knee.

We are back! The second half has kicked off. England searching for the all-important first goal that would put them back on top spot in Group L.

HALF TIME! The first half comes to an end, and it has been frustration for England. Much like the Ghana game, England have failed to find the cutting edge in front of goal. Panama have defended well, and also surprised England with a couple of odd attacks. As things stand, England will face Portugal in the Round of 32.

Just three minutes of stoppage time has been added on at the end of the first half in the FIFA World Cup match between England and Panama. That is essentially the duration of just the hydration break. We haven't had many (or any) delays in the game otherwise.

Oh, hang on, England have a free-kick in a dangerous position just outside the box! Harry Kane fouled.

Meanwhile, Croatia have taken the lead against Ghana in the other Group L game that is happening simultaneously. Petar Sucic has put Croatia in front. As things stand, Croatia would top the group, with England slipping to second. If it remains like this, England will face Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in the Round of 32!

Another opening created by England, with Nico O'Reilly entering the box. A cross towards him, O'Reilly heads it goalwards, but Panama save it well. Panama then create a chance at the other end, but it's offside.

Panama come on the attack again, and this time it's a firm shot at goal! Jose Luis Rodriguez slams a left-footed shot that's well saved by England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Can Panama stun England with an early goal?

England are dominating possession and have already entered the Panama box a few times, but the final ball or final shot is lacking. Just as I write that, Harry Kane lays it off for Bukayo Saka with some excellent hold-up play, but Saka's final shot is blocked by Panama!

A huge chance goes begging for Panama! England's defence was a bit scattered for a moment and Panama had entered the final third. Unfortunately for them, Jose Luis Rodriguez took a very poor touch on the edge of the box, allowing the England defence to recover.

Marcus Rashford has made a very bright start to the match. He drives into the box from the left again and fires in a cross, but there's no one to receive it. Another corner for England, but the chance goes to waste ultimately. England all over Panama in the early minutes.

Jude Bellingham in action in the midfield. First he wins the ball back with a crunching slide tackle, and then drives forward with the ball, eventually winning a free-kick. Moments later, Marcus Rashford cuts in and takes a shot from the outside of the box. It's a good, low strike, but a good save by Panama's goalkeeper.

England right-winger Bukayo Saka picks up the ball in a dangerous area, enters the box and looks to find Harry Kane with a pass. But it's blocked out well by Panama. Soon after, Marcus Rashford swings in a cross towards Jude Bellingham in the box, but it's defended out for a corner.

We are just half an hour from kick off in the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between England and Panama at New Jersey. The group stage is winding down to an end today, with England's match set to be followed by a big game between Portugal and Colombia. Lionel Messi's Argentina face Jordan in the final group stage matches of the World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel has rested England's star midfielder Declan Rice for the FIFA World Cup match against Panama. Morgan Rogers has replaced him. This likely means that Jude Bellingham will operate as part of a midfield pivot alongside Elliot Anderson, while Rogers plays as the No. 10 attacking midfielder.

As it stands, England will take on Senegal in the Round of 32. If they win, they could face one of Mexico or Ecuador in the Round of 16. However, if England finish second, they are going to face Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in the Round of 32, as things stand.

If England finish third, they'll face Colombia, but they may face Portugal if results change later today.

Croatia take on Ghana in the other Group L game, which will take place simultaneously to the England-Panama match. Ghana are through to the Round of 32, while Croatia need a point to be safely through. Defeat for Croatia could see them get eliminated from the knockout race.

England captain and star striker Harry Kane is one goal away from becoming his nations' outright all-time top-scorer in FIFA World Cup history. Currently, he is joint-top with Gary Lineker, who won the Golden Boot in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Kane, of course, won the Golden Boot in the 2018 edition!

Panama XI vs England: Here's Panama's starting XI to take on England today. Keep an eye on defender Jose Cordoba, who plays for English club Norwich City. Winger Yoel Barcenas, who is captaining the team, is also one to watch out for.

England ideally need a big win to guarantee top spot in Group L. They are currently in first due as they have a better goal difference than Ghana, who are second but on the same number of points (4). If Ghana beat Croatia by a big margin, and England don't do the same, they could end up finishing second!

Less than 24 hours before kick off against Panama, it was confirmed that England's star right-back Reece James has suffered a hamstring injury. James is set to miss at least two games, if not the entire tournament. With Tino Livraminto also ruled out, England are suffering a crisis at right-back. 

England XI vs Panama: Arsenal star Bukayo Saka returns to England's starting XI, replacing club teammate Noni Madueke. Marcus Rashford is also in, replacing Anthony Gordon. The injured Reece James is replaced by Jarell Quansah at right-back, while Nico O'Reilly comes back in at left-back. England vice-captain Declan Rice has been rested too, with Morgan Rogers coming in.
