England suffered a World Cup setback on Tuesday as Thomas Tuchel's side were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Ghana, leaving them with work still do as they bid to progress to the knockout stage as Group L winners. Nico O'Reilly came closest to scoring with a late header for England that hit the bar, but after the promise of their opening 4-2 win over Croatia, this was a performance that will raise doubts as to their chances of going all the way and winning the tournament. They dominated possession and had 19 shots to their opponents' two, yet rarely looked like scoring past Ghana's stand-in goalkeeper Benjamin Asare in a match watched by 63,983 fans at the Gillette Stadium near Boston. Both teams have four points with one game still to play in Group L, with progression to the next round all but assured but their final positions still in the balance.

It is full time and England play out a 0-0 draw against Ghana. A frustrating game for them as they were unable to take advantage of the chances!

It was the best chance of the game for England but Nico O'Reilly's header bounced off the crossbar and the rebound was just not good enough. 

Final move by England - Rashford on for Madueke. Rashford was quite impressive against Croatia but very little time remains in this match.

Saka, Kane, Madueke, Rogers - No shortage of offensive options for England. But will they be able to find the all-important goal?

20 minutes left in the game but still nothing to separate the two teams. England had the better chances but they did not do anything with them. Ghana, on the other hand, have kept their shape and have not allowed England to dominate.

Two chances for England but still no success. The free-kick from Rice found Anderson in a brilliant position but his header was blocked. Minutes later, Rice found Kane but once again, the finish was just not there.

Anthony Gordon has not been very effective for England and it seems like Thomas Tuchel needs to make some changes in order to boost the England side. They have lacked creativity and Harry Kane hardly had anything to do in front of the goal.

The second half is underway. England had their chances but Ghana were successful in keeping them quiet. Will they be able to find the breakthrough or will Ghana continue their brilliant work?

It is half-time and Ghana will certainly be the happier side. England had their fair share of chances but the finishing was just not there. Expect a few changes and more energy from England in the second half.

First yellow card of the match and it was shown to Declan Rice. He was looking to get the ball but ended up catching the Ghana defender's foot.

Finally a big chance for England but they were unable to take advantage! A good cross from Madueke and Rice's header was nowhere near the target!

The story of the first half has been England's inability to find the opening against Ghana. The passing has been great but the attacks are just not providing the final ball. Kane hardly had anything to do and most opportunities were just long shots which were not good enough to get a goal.

Declan Rice has made himself an important part of England attacks and he was involved in two big moments for his side till now. A direct free-kick went flying over the goal while another shot from him was blocked at the last minute by the Ghana defender.

England have been dominant in the first 10 minutes of the match and most attacks have come through Madueke. However, the finish has just not been there and no goals till now in the match.

An early injury scare for England as Jude Bellingham was left reeling in pain after an uncomfortable clash. However, he is up and running as the England crowd cheers on.

The match is underway and England are on the front foot right away. They will be looking overwhelm Ghana early in the match and the pace of both Gordon and Madueke will play a huge role.

Harry Kane currently has 10 World Cup goals - the joint-most by an England player along with Gary Lineker. However, the star forward will have the chance to claim the record for himself during the game against Ghana.

One interesting choice was to keep Anthony Gordon in the starting XI and not go for Marcus Rashford. Rashford was quite impressive in the previous match and even scored a goal. However, Tuchel has decided to stick with the same strike force for this match.

Thomas Tuchel has made two changes to England's starting lineup from the previous game. Both changes are in defence. Left-back Nico O'Reilly has been benched, with Djed Spence starting in his place. Marc Guehi returns at centre-back, replacing John Stones.

Harry Kane began the FIFA World Cup 2026 in style, smashing in two goals in England's opener against Croatia. All eyes will be on him again, as England take on Ghana today. With Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo all scoring two goals each this gameweek, can Kane follow suit?
