Marseille:

France coach Laurent Blanc received a setback in his plans for Euro 2012 on Monday when Marseille striker Loic Remy was ruled out for up to four weeks with a thigh injury sustained against Auxerre on Sunday.

Marseille's top scorer with 12 league goals, Remy had to go off in the 50th minute of his side's 3-0 win at home to Auxerre after abruptly pulling up in the centre of the pitch.

"Tests have confirmed a lesion in Loic Remy's left quadriceps (the right femoral)," read a statement published on the Marseille website.

"He is likely to be unavailable for between three and four weeks."

The club added that their medical staff were "in contact with those of the France team".

The news is a heavy blow for Remy, who would face a race against time to be fit for France's opening game at Euro 2012, against England in Donetsk on June 11.

He had been expected to be named in Blanc's squad alongside Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Montpellier's Olivier Giroud.

Blanc will reveal on Tuesday which Ligue 1 players have been included in his preliminary squad for the tournament.

"I don't think it's too serious," Remy had said on Sunday evening.

"We'll do some tests tomorrow (Monday) and we'll see. I hope to be in the squad."

The 25-year-old, who began his career at Lyon before spells at Lens and Nice, is reportedly being tracked by English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
