England level the three-match ODI series at 1-1. India had a golden chance to wrap up the series win today, but England fought back from their defeat in the first game to register a convincing win in the end. A great performance from Root after a great performance by the England bowlers.

Onwards to Lord's for the final ODI!

Joe Root remains one run short of his 21st ODI century, but he played a necessary knock in a really tricky chase. The 35-year-old walked in at 0/1 with Jasprit Bumrah breathing fire. And when wickets kept falling at the other end, Root remained rooted at one end of the crease. 

VICTORY FOR ENGLAND! Joe Root remains stranded on 99, as Gus Atkinson finishes things off with a boundary. India had all the fielders inside the circle, and Atkinson cleared it with ease. England win by four wickets and level the series!

Root then appears to get lucky as a top edge falls short of the Indian fielder, but turns out Prasidh had bowled a no-ball, so it wouldn't have mattered if the catch had been taken.

Brook cashes in on the free-hit, edges it but it flies over the circle for 4.

Jofra Archer was the main man behind India's sudden collapse, starting it off with Kohli's wicket and then picking up two in two in another over. Gus Atkinson chipped in with three too, dismissing Gill early on, and then taking two at the end. Credit must go to Sam Curran too, who dismissed Ishan Kishan and choked India's run-rate even when Kohli and Shreyas were there.

India were cruising at one stage, going at more than 6 runs per over with Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer marching along well. However, Kohli's dismissal kickstarted a collapse as India lost six wickets for 32 runs. Shreyas and Jasprit Bumrah's late cameo saved India's blushes somewhat, but India would be very disappointed with 233.

Prasidh Krishna bowled, INDIA 233 ALL OUT! Gus Atkinson finishes off with two wickets in four balls to bundle the visitors out. He ends with three wickets to his name. After a great start, India's innings went awry, and it could've been worse if Jasprit Bumrah did not smash the late boundaries.

But right after surviving the massive scare, Kohli ends up losing his wicket the next ball. He goes for a swing towards the on-side, miscues it terribly, the leading edge goes to Adil Rashid at deep third-man. Kohli is gone for 65!

KL Rahul misses out in India's playing XI for the second game. Captain Shubman Gill confirms that KL Rahul is sick. Ishan Kishan replaces him in the lineup, as a like-for-like option. It'll be interesting to see how the batting order shifts due to Kishan's entry.

England win the toss and opt to bowl! Harry Brook chooses to bowl against India in the second ODI, and admits that they need to execute better in this game. 

It will be interesting to see whether Team India make any changes for the second ODI. Shubman Gill and Gautam Gambhir may choose to go with the same playing XI that clinched a convincing win in the first game. Perhaps we could see a change in the pace attack, with Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav waiting on the wings.

Kuldeep Yadav was also not included by India in the previous game, could he get a game today?

We are fast approaching toss time. Remember, England need to win to keep the series alive, while India can cap off a disastrous white-ball tour with a smile by winning the ODI series today. 

Traditionally, Cardiff has been quite good for batting with the first-innings scores in excess of 280. However, with the targets getting chased on several occasions, one can expect quite a high-scoring encounter.

Gurnoor Brar was handed a warning and a demerit point for throwing the ball in an "inappropriate and dangerous" manner during the first ODI against England. Brar was found guilty of breaching Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which is a Level 1 offence. "In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Brar's disciplinary record, for whom it was a first offence in a 24-month period," an ICC statement read.

Jacob Bethell never looked comfortable while opening the batting with Ben Duckett and it will be one of the issues that England will look to address in the coming days. He was the fifth opening partner for Duckett in the recent past and he looked quite nervy against the India pacers. However, it is highly unlikely that England will make a change in that department so soon.

All eyes will once again be on the veteran duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. They both were dismissed cheaply in the first game and their failure to score runs once again led to some chatter over their futures - especially with respect to the ODI World Cup 2027.

India skipper Shubman Gill was forced to leave the field retired hurt during the first ODI but the team management confirmed that he was fine for the second game. However, questions remain over pacer Gurnoor Brar who looked in a spot of bother while bowling.

The last time that India played an ODI match in Cardiff was way back in 2014. However, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were part of the India playing XI during that match as well.
