Bangalore:
These elections had evoked extra interest this year with Srikantadatta Wadiyar of the former royal family of Mysore taking on Gundappa Vishwanath for the post of president and Brijesh Patel, who held on to his seat as honorary secretary having to fend of allegations of financial irregularities from the Wadiyar camp.
Of the 24 seats in the Committee, 13 have been won by Wodeyar and his supporters and the remaining 11 have been won by Briejsh Patel and his men.
Supported by industrialist Vijay Mallya, Wodeyar is now the President of the Karnataka state cricket association but how well will he function with rival Brijesh Patel as the secretary?
"We have 13 members from our group, so hopefully we will get them to work with us," said Srikantadatta Wodeyar.
While the overall results have worked against the Bijessh Patel cricketing camp, of the six key posts four have gone to Brijesh Patel and his supporters.
"We are all cricketers who have worked with each other, lest hope we can work things out," said Brijesh Patel.
But with these elections finally done and over with cricket enthusiasts are hoping that less attention will be paid to politics and more on the growth of the game in the state.
