3.4 OUT! LBW! Fabulous review by the West Indies! Jeez, this looked really close in real time. Was impact the reason for umpire Menon not giving this out? Or the bounce? On a good length, outside off, nipping back in sharply, Sam Konstas came half forward to defend but missed and was hit on the pads. Did not take a big stride, nor did he get across. Seales went up in an appeal but umpire Nitin Menon stood still. The bowler seemed pretty much interested and eventually, skipper Roston Chase signalled for the review. Nothing on UltraEdge when ball passes bat. Now then. Seems to have hit him below the knee roll. Get the drumsticks rolling, Windies, because it is three reds on the Ball Tracker! The ball is projected to be hitting the middle and leg stumps. The onfield decision is reversed and Konstas has to continue his poor red-ball outings, after that MCG hurricane against India. He departs for a watchful 3 and Australia are 8/1! 8/1

Usman Khawaja | 47 | 128 | 4 | 1 | 36.71 |
39.4 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Guess who? Guess who? It is the superstar, Shamar! Greg Blewett was just mentioning on air, that West Indies perhaps missed the trick post Lunch, not having Shamar Joseph start after Lunch. Here he is, on the 10th ball of his new spell, got Khawaja! So Nelson, supposed to be unlucky for England, proves to be unlucky for Australia, as the 89-run stand is broken! This is what extra speed can do. A short ball, outside off, Usman Khawaja goes for the pull, swivelling a touch but is perhaps a touch late in executing that shot. Maybe, he is beaten by the pace on that delivery. Gets an underedge, which is taken by the keeper, Shai Hope. So, the doors shut down on Khawaja, who finally departs for 47, having been dropped twice - on 6 and 45. Australia are 111/4! 111/4

Cameron Green | 3 | 21 | 0 | 0 | 14.28 |
9.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Cameron Green's nightmare at number 3 continues and West Indies pick up their second wicket. Shamar Joseph has looked threatening all morning and he probably should have gotten Green a long time back but he wouldn't mind that earlier dropped chance much now. SJ bowls this one relatively full and in the channel outside off, shaping away at almost 143 clicks. Green tries to drive it away through covers but ends up getting an outside edge. The ball goes low towards second slip, where Justin Greaves gobbles it up nicely. The umpires just go upstairs to confirm whether it carried cleanly and the third umpire confirms that it did. Green departs for just 3 (21) and Australia are rocked early at 14/2! 14/2
|

Josh Inglis | 5 | 15 | 0 | 0 | 33.33 |
15.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Another one falls for Australia, as they lose their third wicket inside 80 minutes of play! This is turning out to be such a good toss to lose. A short ball, outside off, Josh Inglis goes for the pull but is defeated by the sluggishness of the surface. After seeing the other balls bounce and shoot, this one sticks on the surface. As a result, he goes for the pull early while the ball arrives a second later. A top edge is induced and the ball swirls in the air near short square leg. The keeper, Shai Hope, calls for the catch and moves swiftly to his left and takes a while to compose himself. The ball is still swirling in the air and he makes sure he watches the ball till the last moment and takes it nicely in front. Inglis departs for 5 and Australia are 22/3! 22/3

Travis Head | 59 | 78 | 9 | 0 | 75.64 |
49.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Of all the people, Justin Greaves gets Head! He might have been looked at as a weak link but he is the one who gets the strongest breakthrough. On a length, outside off, Travis Head flashes his blade at that, without moving his feet. The ball comes in with the angle from around the wicket and bounces a tad extra as well, cramping Head for room. The outside edge is generated and keeper Shai Hope completes the formalities. Head just stands there distraught, before trudging off, hitting his bat with his glove. An irresponsible shot, one might say, but that's the way he plays. Early strike for West Indies post Tea as Head departs for 59 (78). From 111/3, Australia have slipped to 142/7! 142/7

Beau Webster | 11 | 24 | 1 | 0 | 45.83 |
44 OUT! BOWLED'EM! Unplayable, and Shamar Joseph is soon turning into a sort of nemesis for the Aussies, top-drawer stuff. The last one was overpitched and SJ doesn't overcorrect, he just serves this one on a three-quarter length and around middle, bowling it with a scrambled seam as well. The ball pitches and moves away, squaring up Beau Webster completely and the ball knocks over the top of the stumps. The poles don't move but the bails go flying and Shamar has his fourth wicket. Replays also show that Shamar has his front leg heel inside the popping crease by millimeters. Australia are now 123/5! 123/5
|

Alex Carey Wk | 8 | 15 | 1 | 0 | 53.33 |
48.4 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! That is a sensational catch by Roston Chase and Jayden Seales picks up his second wicket. Seales bowls it back of a length and outside off, darting it back in. Alex Carey's eyes light up as he sees that ball and looks to play a crunching cover drive off the back foot, but just the extra zip and bounce off the deck and Carey is done for. The ball takes the outside edge and flies to the left of the keeper, who doesn't move an inch. However, Chase at first slip reacts sharply and snares it to his right and holds onto it with both hands as he goes down on the deck. West Indies get their sixth wicket and Australia are 138/6 at TEA ON DAY 1! 138/6
|

Pat Cummins C | 28 | 18 | 3 | 1 | 155.55 |
54.4 OUT! CAUGHT! It has been the Seales and Shamar show as Jayden Seales picks up his fourth! The potentially dangerous stand has been broken. It added 27 runs in quick time and has taken Australia closer to the 175 mark. This is one of the trademark shots of Cummins, as he usually targets that region around mid off, aiming to clear the fielder. However, he fails this time. A length ball, outside off, Pat Cummins backs away to the leg side and aims to go over mid off but plays a bit too early. Ends up hitting it straight to mid off where Kraigg Brathwaite makes no mistake. Cummins departs for 28 (18), the third highest scorer in this inning and from 111/3, Australia are 170/9! 170/9

50.2 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! The wheels are coming off for the Aussies now. On a length, outside off, from around the wicket, Mitchell Starc plays inside the line, staying back to defend, but the ball straightens and takes the outside edge. Flies low to second slip where Justin Greaves makes no mistake. Seales lets out a roar. Starc departs for a 5-baller and from 111/3, Australia have slipped to 143/8! 143/8

56.5 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! THAT WILL BE THAT! Australia have been bowled out for 180 and Jayden Seales ends up with a FIFER! Third of his Test career! Coming to the ball, it was short and aimed at the body. Josh Hazlewood looks to get out of the way as he tries to duck under it, but the ball follows him and takes the glove and lobs up towards the wicket-keeper. Shai Hope takes an easy catch. An appeal follows for caught behind and the umpire is a bit late in raising his finger, but nonetheless, he gives it OUT as Hazlewood starts walking! 180/10

4.3 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! That's the third time in Test cricket that Starc has dismissed Brathwaite. Kraigg Brathwaite is perhaps waiting for the inswinger and is looking to play closer to his body. Starc spotting that bowls it a touch full and moving away a little, around off, Kraigg Brathwaite looks to block it and the outside edge is produced. The ball goes low to second slip where Beau Webster pockets it with both hands. Brathwaite departs for 4 and West Indies are 10/1, trailing by 170! 10/1

John Campbell | 7 | 22 | 1 | 0 | 31.81 |
6.4 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Starc has 2 in 8 balls and both the openers are back in the hut. Campbell's patience runs out. We did mention that on this pitch, the new ball would be the key and if you see it off, it bodes well for the rest of the innings. But Campbell, being more of a dasher, was not quite able to play the patient game for long. On a length, outside off, John Campbell looks to drive it through the covers but there is some late swing on offer. The ball moves away and takes the outside edge to the keeper, Alex Carey, who makes no mistake. Technically, Campbell will not be too disappointed with that dismissal, as he was done in by some late swing. But in terms of match awareness, he will realize that it was a matter of just an over at max, before Starc was off the attack and he could have seen him off. Campbell departs for 7 and West Indies are 16/2, trailing by 164! 16/2

Keacy Carty | 20 | 40 | 2 | 0 | 50 |
16 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Skipper inspirational strikes in his 4th over. In the dying moments of the day. On a good length, outside off, Keacy Carty looks to defend but the ball pitches and then bounces steeply. Carty had no time to take his bat out of the way and ends up giving a simple catch to Alex Carey. Carty departs for 20 and the 36-run stand is broken. West Indies are 52/3, trail by 128! 52/3

Brandon King | 26 | 44 | 4 | 0 | 59.09 |
26.3 OUT! BOWLED! Oh dear, King has left one trusting the bounce and it deceives him! Almost a replica of the dismissal of Jos Buttler in the 2019 Ashes in England's second innings in Manchester, where he left one alone off a similar length from Josh Hazlewood and it cannoned back in. Pretty sure that former England great Geoffrey Boycott would not be too impressed by this, as in his opinion, a batter has got the willow to wield, not leave the ball alone. Cannot totally blame King here though, as he has trusted the pitch's bounce on this occasion. Hazlewood has landed this on a good length outside off and got it to nip back in a long way. King perhaps thought that the ball will go over the stumps but to his dismay, it has hit the off stump. King stands there in dismay and amazement. He eventually starts walking off, having made a compact 26 and his dropped chance on exactly the same score, in Hazlewood's previous over, does not count for much. Australia have their first strike of the morning and West Indies are 72/5, trailing by 108! 72/5

2 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
16.5 OUT! BOWLED! Simply unplayable. Josh 'Pigeon' Hazlewood. On a length, outside off, Warrican looks to defend but leaves a big gap between bat and pad. The ball lands, jags back in a mile and goes right through that gap, to hit the off stump. Too good for a top-order batter, leave alone someone from the lower order. Warrican comes and goes for a 2-baller, from 52/2, West Indies are now 53/4, trailing by 127! 53/4

|||||
Roston Chase C | 44 | 108 | 1 | 1 | 40.74 |
49.2 OUT! LBW! My dear. Pardon me, but that does seem to be a tough call on Roston Chase. How many of you remember the Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissal at the MCG in 2024? Sunil Gavaskar did not agree with the technology on air then, while Ian Bishop does not agree with the technology here. And have to admit, Bishop is not the only one. This is similar to the LBW review earlier in the day, when we mentioned about showing of two frames and Australia not quite agreeing to the third umpire's decision. This is more or less of the same. This is a length ball, that lands outside off and stays low, seaming in. Roston Chase is perhaps undone by the lack of bounce and seam movement off the surface as he fails to bring his bat down in time. Cummins appeals and up goes the umpire's finger. Chase immediately takes the review, even before discussing with his partner. And the first replay shows why. There is a clear cut deflection off the bat and that is precisely why, umpire Adrian Holdstock wants UltraEdge. Now, there is more drama. UltraEdge does show a spike when the ball is adjacent to the bat but the third umpire feels that there is a big gap between bat and ball. And eventually, after checking multiple times, he is convinced that there is no bat involved. Moves on to Ball Tracking and that returns three reds, with the ball projected to hit middle and leg stumps. Now, this is going to be a big debate. If you recall Sunil Gavaskar's words during the MCG Test, he reckoned that technology should be utilized properly and the third umpire then said that he had enough evidence to see the deflection. In this case too, one could see a massive deflection but the third umpire thought otherwise. Full marks to Roston Chase as he simply does not react on seeing the decision going against his favour. His solid knock of 44 comes to an end and the 67-run stand is broken. Cummins has his second and West Indies are 139/6, trailing by 41! 139/6

Shai Hope Wk | 48 | 91 | 5 | 0 | 52.74 |
57.3 OUT! GIVEN OUT CAUGHT! Boos from the crowd and Adrian Holdstock is certainly not going to have many fans in the Caribbean after tonight. Have to say, Australia have got away with another one here. First, they were lucky with the dismissal of Roston Chase and now, they will feel massively lucky with this verdict. On a good length, outside off, Shai Hope looks to defend but the ball pitches and then seams back in massively. Catches the inside edge and flies over the stumps. But the keeper, Alex Carey, dives spectacularly to his left, like a goalkeeper and takes a phenomenal catch. Or so it seems. Hope starts to walk but umpire Richard Kettleborough wants to check whether the catch was taken cleanly. Third umpire Adrian Holdstock checks multiple replays and one angle seems to suggest that the ball was grounded. The crowd likes that replay but then, go silent as Holdstock believes that the ball has been lodged perfectly in the gloves of Carey. Not quite sure that is the case, as there was a lot of doubt in that. My guess is the benefit of doubt should have gone to the batter. Hope departs for 48 and from 139/5, West Indies are 162/8, trailing by 18! 162/8

Justin Greaves | 4 | 18 | 0 | 0 | 22.22 |
55.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Well, Cummins' gamble of bringing Webster on works for Australia. On a length, outside off, Justin Greaves just hangs his bat outside off, almost like a nothing shot and gets a thick outside edge. There is a bit of extra bounce on that delivery but there was no conviction from Greaves. The ball dips onto the keeper, Alex Carey, but he does well to take it coming forward and to his right. Webster is pumped up as Greaves departs for 4 and from 139/5, West Indies are 153/7. The deficit is now 27. 153/7

Shamar Joseph | 8 | 8 | 2 | 0 | 100 |
59 OUT! BOWLED! That's sheer pace from Starc. It is a full toss and might seem friendly for some batters, but for a lower-order batter, the pace of Starc is a bit too much. He looks to flick it away but misses the ball. It hits his pads and deflects onto the stumps. Certainly not a wicket-taking delivery, but many times, against tailenders, extra pace does the trick. Shamar Joseph departs for 8 and from 139/5, West Indies are 171/9, trailing by 9! Starc gets his third scalp. 171/9

Jayden Seales | 2 | 13 | 0 | 0 | 15.38 |
63.2 OUT! CAUGHT! And that will be it for the Windies' first innings. A late flourish from Alzarri Joseph and they have managed to take a 10-run lead as well. Coming to the dismissal, Nathan Lyon bowls this one relatively full and around off, lighting it up nicely. Jayden Seales goes down on one knee, picks it up but doesn't slog. Instead, he swats it flat and straight down the throat of Beau Webster at long on. Webster takes a sharp catch in the deep and Seales has to depart for 2 (13) and West Indies are all out for 190 runs as Lyon gets his first wicket of the game. 190/10

11.2 OUT! BOWLED! Shamar Joseph has his man, finally! Both the openers are back in the hut! Shamar is screaming his heart out as he goes on a marathon run. Coming to the delivery, it's a back of a length ball that seams in off the deck, Konstas looks to block it off the back foot. The ball takes the inside edge of his bat and ricochets onto the stumps. A frustrated Konstas swishes his bat at thin air, visibly frustrated. Clearly, his efforts in the nets are not bearing any fruit. Too many voices in his head? Or just too young to be thrown into the fire? He departs for just 5 after facing 38 balls and Australia are 34/2, leading by 24! 34/2

Usman Khawaja | 15 | 22 | 1 | 0 | 68.18 |
8.4 OUT! LBW! After a bit of loose stuff with the new ball, West Indies finally have their opening wicket. And it is the big one of Khawaja. This is a length ball that pitches outside off and nips back in prety sharply. Usman Khawaja is late to bring his bat down, as he hops on the back foot. He is perhaps undone by the sharp movement off the deck. Alzarri Joseph appeals and after a bit of a thought, umpire Nitin Menon raises his finger. Khawaja though, has no double thoughts. Konstas walks across to have a chat with his partner but Uzzie immediately reviews, as soon as the umpire's finger goes up. To the naked eye, that did look high, as Khawaja was in the air, when the ball hit him, albeit beneath the knee roll. Here's Ball Tracking coming up. Pitching outside off, Impact in line, Wickets hitting on Umpire's call! The on field call stays. Finally, some luck going West Indies' way. That looked to be bouncing over the stumps but umpire Menon has ruled it in their favour. Another failure for Khawaja as he departs for 15, AUSTRALIA ARE 27/1, LEAD BY 17! 27/1

Cameron Green | 15 | 47 | 2 | 0 | 31.91 |
25 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! This time, the wicket is earned! Green's lifeline does not last long. Greaves' persistence pays off and he gets a big one in the form of Green. Back of a length, outside off, Cameron Green flashes hard but only manages a thick outside edge. It flies pretty quickly and straight to first slip, where skipper Roston Chase makes no mistake to his right. Coach Daren Sammy is pumped up in the dressing room. After facing 47 balls, Green's sluggish innings comes to an end, making just 15. Australia are 65/4, leading by 55! 65/4

Josh Inglis | 12 | 33 | 0 | 0 | 36.36 |
21.4 OUT! BOWLED! An action replay of the Brandon King dismissal and West Indies have their third! Seales has been threatening to get the ball back in to hit the off stump but the batters have been content to let the ball go, when the line has been outside off. This time though, the length is just a little bit fuller than the good length. Josh Inglis shoulders arms, thinking that the ball will go past the stumps but to his horror, the ball just cannons into the off stump! Seales is pumped up while Inglis just looks at the area where the ball landed, before walking off. Inglis departs for 12 and Australia are 57/3, leading by 47! 57/3

Travis Head | 61 | 95 | 8 | 0 | 64.21 |
53 OUT! LBW! Don't bother appealing, don't bother reviewing! It is that guy, Shamar Joseph again and this is that delivery which Carlos Brathwaite has been dreading right from the first day. When will THIS happen. It has happened now. It threatened to happen a bit over Day 2, but this is exactly the ball which every batter dreads. On a length, just outside off, in fact, it is short of a length. Travis Head stays back to work it to the leg side but the ball shoots absolutely low and poor Travis cannot understand the head or tail of that. The ball just scoots beneath the bat and hits him on the shin and he immediately crouches on the impact. Shamar does not even bother appealing and straightaway rushes in celebration towards his mates while, someone has the sense to appeal and umpire Nitin Menon raises his finger. Head just stands there, distraught, before walking off. End of a fantastic 61 and the 102-run stand is broken. Second wicket for Shamar. Australia are 167/5, lead by 157! 167/5

Beau Webster | 63 | 120 | 8 | 0 | 52.50 |
63 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Shamar Joseph is yet again the one who pulls his team back into the contest. This is bowled full and darted down the leg side. Beau Webster looks to flick but gets strangled down the leg side and there is a bit of a noise as the ball travels into the keeper, Shai Hope's gloves. There is a loud appeal for caught behind but Nitin Menon says 'NO.' The Windies players seem confident, Justin Greaves in particular and Roston Chase does review it. The third umpire is called into question once again. UltraEdge shows a clear spike off the inside edge and the on-field decision is overturned. The 41-run stand is broken and it also brings the end of a fine knock of 63 (120) from Webster and Australia are now 208/6, leading by 198 runs. 208/6

|||||
Alex Carey Wk | 65 | 75 | 7 | 2 | 86.66 |
78.3 OUT! CAUGHT! The tactic of bowling wide works and West Indies get the wicket of Carey! With the game getting stalled after the wicket of Starc, Carey was not quite able to control the game the way he wanted. The West Indies tried to frustrate him, opting to use the tactic which MS Dhoni had used in Nagpur against Australia in the fourth Test in 2008, when he had set them a target of 382 in the fourth innings. The pitch was flat, so MS asked his bowlers to bowl wide outside off and kept a 7-2 off side field. The tactic worked and cross-batted shots resulted in a wicket. More or less the same here. This is thrown wide outside off, Carey tries to reach out and go inside out over cover, but is not quite to the pitch of the ball. Gets it off the toe end of the bat and miscues it high in the air. Jayden Seales comes across to his left from deep cover and takes a decent catch. So Chase strikes on his very third ball but what a knock it has been from Carey - a critical 65 (75). From 247/6, Australia are now 291/9 and lead by 281. 291/9

Pat Cummins C | 9 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 64.28 |
67.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Wicket number 2 for Alzarri Joseph. Not quite sure whether this was needed, given that there is so much time left in the game but perhaps Australia feel that they are not going to be able to hang around for long any which ways. So want to get as many runs as possible by playing some attacking shots. And in that process, they are prepared to lose wickets. A short ball, outside off, Cummins goes for the pull but is early into the shot. The ball holds into the surface and there is extra bounce as well. The top edge is taken and it is a simple catch for Kraigg Brathwaite at mid-wicket. Cummins is disappointed, as he departs for 9 but he was involved in a handy quicfire stand of 39 (26). Australia are 247/7, lead by 237! 247/7

Mitchell Starc | 16 | 17 | 3 | 0 | 94.11 |
70.2 OUT! BOWLED! It is Shamar Joseph again. Seriously, this guy is a machine. He went off the attack at the end of the 65th over but comes back on sooner than expected. No worries though. Runs in as hard as he would while bowling his first over and bowls a fast length ball, outside off. Mitchell Starc swings for the hills on the leg side but the ball nips back in, beats the bat and hits the middle stump. Wicket number 4 for Shamar and West Indies find their voice again. Starc departs for 16 and from 247/6, Australia are now 264/8, leading by 254. 264/8

He celebrates the fifer by kneeling down on the ground and tapping his right hand on the turf! Coming to the delivery, this is a full ball well outside off. Josh Hazlewood backs away and throws his bat at the ball but gets a thick inside edge which rockets into the stumps. AUSTRALIA BOWLED OUT FOR 310 AND WEST INDIES NEED 301 TO WIN! 310/10

1 OUT! CAUGHT! The plan has worked! Once again, Kraigg Brathwaite falls in the first over of the innings and to Mitchell Starc again, for the second time in the match and 4th time in Tests. Sam Konstas was positioned at short square leg for this shot and Kraigg Brathwaite flicks it straight to him. Konstas takes it low in front of him. Coming to the ball, Mitchell Starc bowls the full inswinger on middle and leg, luring the batter into the flick shot. Brathwaite leans across to flick but cannot control it and hits it uppishly to Konstas. Starc and the Aussies are overjoyed, as Kraigg Brathwaite endures a tough Test, dismissed for 4 in each innings. West Indies are 4/1 and need another 297 to win! 4/1

John Campbell | 23 | 31 | 4 | 0 | 74.19 |
10.1 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Pre-meditated and a horrendous way to get out for John Campbell. Josh Hazlewood switches ends and comes around the stumps to the left-hander. Campbell shuffles right across the stumps and goes for that lap shot, which he had earlier nailed against Josh but this time the length isn't quite full. The ball comes slowly off the deck and Campbell ends up hitting it off the toe end of the bat. The ball simply lobs up behind the keeper, Alex Carey takes a few steps back and gobbles it up. Campbells wastes a good start as he departs for 23 (31). The enterprising stand of 43 is broken and West Indies are 47/2, needing another 254 for victory! 47/2

Keacy Carty | 20 | 36 | 1 | 0 | 55.55 |
14.4 OUT! BOWLED! And another one joins the bandwagon. The set Carty is also gone and the Hoff now has 4 wickets in his last 16 balls. Typical Hazlewood dismissal. Placing an invisible coin on that good length area and targetting the top of off stump. The ball lands on that invisible coin, nips back in and stays low a touch as well. Keacy Carty is not sure whether to play forward or backward and just looks to defend, coming half forward. The ball sneaks through the gap between bat and pad and hits the top of off stump. Carty departs for 20 and from 47/1, West Indies are now 56/5! 245 more needed for victory. 56/5

10.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Wow, a fine reflex catch at gully and Brandon King has to depart for a golden duck. Josh Hazlewood on a hat-trick as well. We talked about the role of the psychiatrist but this will make Green feel a lot better. The Hoff comes over the wicket now and hits that three-quarter length right away. The ball pitches on off and jags back in. Brandon King plays all around a straight ball and gets hit high on the pads. There is an appeal for LBW but the ball also lobs up towards gully where Cameron Green leaps up and snares it brilliantly with both hands. Tumbles after taking the catch but ensures that the ball stays in his hands. The LBW appeal is turned down but instantly there is the appeal for a catch and umpire Richard Kettlebrough raises his finger. King walks back and that means there was a clear inside edge and West Indies lose two in quick succession. 47/3

Roston Chase C | 2 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 20 |
12.5 OUT! CAUGHT AT SHORT LEG! It is a procession now. Hazlewood has got three wickets in his last 11 balls. On a good length, outside off, nipping back in, Roston Chase looks to defend but the ball generates good bounce and takes the inside edge. Deflects onto the thigh and lobs up in the air. Sam Konstas is alert as a hawk, watching the ball scoop up in the air and takes it comfortably. Hazlewood does not even bother appealing while Konstas appeals and umpire Kettleborough raises his finger. Chase departs for 2 and from 47/1, West Indies are 49/4, needing another 252 for victory! 49/4

Shai Hope Wk | 2 | 21 | 0 | 0 | 9.52 |
20.4 OUT! TIMER! Keeping the stumps in play and we have seen multiple balls stay low, nothing much Shai Hope can do about this one. Pat Cummins comes wider on the crease and creates an angle into the right-hander. Pitches the ball up on a shortish length and targets the off stump. Hope tries to hop back and defend but the ball just beats the outside edge and crashes into the stumps. West Indies reeling at 61/6, need another 240 for victory! 61/6

23.1 OUT! RUN OUT! Doesn't matter if Marnus Labuschagne is not in the playing XI. He still contributes to the team's cause. This is an excellent piece of fielding. That is the last thing West Indies needed at the moment. Mitchell Starc bowls it full and tries to angle it in from around off. Justin Greaves hits the drive on the up and to the left of mid off and sets off for the single. Alzarri Joseph is a bit late to respond and Marnus just attacks the ball so well, and then goes at the correct end, towards the keeper and scores the direct end. Alzarri tries to slide his bat in but it is a lazy attempt. The throw hits the stumps and the Aussies are overjoyed while the umpire refers it upstairs. Sure enough, the first replay confirms that Alzarri is way short. So his lucky reprieve in Starc's previous over does not count for much and he departs for an 8-ball duck. One can understand Greaves' thought process. With around 10 minutes to go for Stumps, he wanted the tailender to face most of the balls, but unfortunately for him, it has cost his team a wicket. From 47/1, West Indies are 73/7! Need another 228 for victory. 73/7

Jomel Warrican | 3 | 13 | 0 | 0 | 23.07 |
26.3 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! No need for the umpire this time. 7th wicket to fall from the Malcolm Marshall End in this innings and 5 of those have gone to Josh Hazlewood, who picks up his 13th 5-wicket haul in Test cricket. On a good length, outside off, Jomel Warrican looks to defend from his crease but plays well inside the line. The ball pitches and then moves away slightly, just enough to catch the outside edge. Easy catch for the keeper, Alex Carey. Warrican departs for 3 and from 47/1, West Indies are 86/8! 86/8

Shamar Joseph | 44 | 22 | 4 | 4 | 200 |
33.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Would you believe it? Ironic as it might seem, a pigeon has indeed got the breakthrough for Australia! That break seems to have broken the momentum of Shamar Joseph and the fastest fifty by a West Indian batter in Test cricket will stay with Shane Shillingford for a while. Flighted, outside off, Shamar looks to drive it through the off side, but gets a thick outside edge. It goes towards the keeper, but Alex Carey cannot hang on. Luckily for him though, it hits his body and lobs up in the air. Since he is donning the helmet, Carey is not able to see where the ball went but Usman Khawaja at first slip is aware of the situation. Charges forward and takes a very good catch. Australia appeal but Shamar does not bother waiting. End of an entertaining 44 (22) and the 55-run stand is broken at last. West Indies 141/9 and Australia have 3 balls to try and end the match on Day 3. 141/9

33.4 OUT! CAUGHT! That's it, it's all over and Australia have got the job done on Day 3! Nathan Lyon tosses the ball up, not completely full and on middle and leg. Jayden Seales looks to lunge and block but gets an inside edge and the ball goes straight to short leg. Sam Konstas holds on to a sharp chance and up goes the finger from umpire Nitin Menon. It is the last over of the day and match, and Lyon shows his worth with a double whammy as the Aussie players rejoice. AUSTRALIA WIN BY 159 RUNS! 141/10
