Twitter trouble: Suresh Raina blames nephew for offensive tweet

Mumbai:

Move over Kevin Pietersen! Here's a new entrant in the league - Suresh Raina.

Minutes after returning to India following the ouster from the ICC World T20, Raina tweeted: "Back home after so many days.. Can't wait to Join The Chennai Super kings For CL.."

A couple of minutes later, another tweet from Raina set the micro-blogging site abuzz. A strongly-worded tweet that was directed to the Pakistan cricket team, who were ousted from the tournament after they lost by 16 runs in the semi-final against Sri Lanka, read: "Ek do din late gaye ghar !!!! Woh bhi besharam ki tarah Gaye... Bye bye Pakistan!!!!"

This offensive tweet was deleted after it was condemned widely on Twitter. The left-hander cricketer came up with a clarification and put the blame on his nephew. He tweeted: "Smart phones r dangerous. Discovered it last night after my nephew posted random tweets. I'm a sportsman and would never disrespect."

"Though I already deleted it, I felt its better to clarify. To all those who r upset, I'm sorry. I'm not one to show disrespect," his another tweet read.

However, people asked for the truth behind it and also mocked his clarification. Fake IPL Player took a dig at him and tweeted: "Now Rohit Sharma will say his nephew was batting for him all this time. #Suresh #Raina"

Ramesh Srivats slammed Raina and tweeted,"So, Suresh Raina has a scapegoat tied to his family tree"

A spoof account named Raina's Nephew with Twitter handle @raina_nephew has also been created.
