Exactly a year ago, Sachin Tendulkar accomplished his most cherished dream of winning the World Cup. Today, the maestro relived that moment on Twitter.
"Time flies but memories last forever. What a day it was!!! 02-04-2011," he tweeted.
Sachin, who has been a part of six World Cups, was always vocal about his desire to win the prestigious trophy for India. That dream came true on April 2, 2011 when India beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final at Mumbai, and his teammates, who dedicated this win to him, gave him a lap of honour in front of his home crowd.
On the first anniversary of India's World Cup win, Indian opener Virender Sehwag thanked his teammates, support staff and the fans. "Can't believe its been a year since we were crowned the World Champs! Everyone contributed to the dream spcly the supporting fans! Thank you," he tweeted.
"A big hug to each and every team member including the support staff," he said on the micro-blogging site.
"A special thanks to the BCCI for being sensitive to our needs and providing us whatever we requested," he tweeted.
Suresh Raina recalls "that moment of euphoria. "Its a year already & the disbelief continues. The most special date of my life. That moment of euphoria Of madness. Of lifelong inspiration," he tweeted.
