Colombo:

Sri Lanka has named six pace bowlers including rookie left-arm seamer Chanaka Welegedara for the next month's three-nation, limited-overs cricket series in Australia.

Hard-hitting Chamara Kapugedera, who was overlooked for months because of poor form, also returns to the 15-man squad named Monday.

Welegedara, 26, made an impressive test debut last month, collecting four wickets in a drawn match against England at Galle. He replaces injured Dilhara Fernando.

Kapugedera who played his last limited-overs match against Bangladesh in July has been recalled among eight specialist batsmen named in the squad.

The tournament, also involving Australia and India, begins in Brisbane on February 5.

Team:

Squad: Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Kumar Sangakkara, Sanath Jayasuriya, Upul Tharanga, Chamara Silva, Chamara Kapugedera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Dilruwan Perera, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Farveez Maharoof, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekera, Chanaka Welagedara and Ishara Amarasinghe
