SL delegation to ink IPL deal next week
Sri Lanka Cricket will next week send a team of officials to finallise a USD 40 million deal with the Indian Premier League, Sports Minister Lokuge said.

Sri Lanka Cricket will next week send a team of officials to finallise a USD 40 million deal with the Indian Premier League, Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge has said.
"More benefits are to be gained by our cricketers and the country by participating in the Indian Premier League matches. Therefore, we are sendng a team of officials to India next week to finalise it," he said.
The official discussions to conduct this tournament will commence on October 18, the Minister said, responding to a statement made by the Leftist JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Friday in the House on the Indian Premier League.
"There is no dispute between the Sri Lankan Cricket Team and the Cricket Interim Committee regarding this issue," Lokuge said.
He said since the Sri Lankan cricketers have gained a lot of international reputation, they have been requested to participate in these IPL.
The Sri Lankan Cricket Interim Committee provided the opportunity to cricketers to participate in the previous 20 over IPL, he said.
"This agreement has been signed for three years. As there were no cricket matches in our schedule this year, our cricketers did not have a problem to participate in these IPL Cricket matches," the state-run Daily News quoted the Minister as saying in Parliament.
