Rohit Sharma has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during India's 14-run defeat to the West Indies in their Twenty20 World Cup Super Eight Group F match in Bridgetown.
The batsman was charged with a Level 1 offence under article 2.1.3 of the code, which relates to showing dissent at an umpire's decision during an international match.
The right-hander pleaded guilty to the charge and under the provisions of the code, the matter was determined by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referee without the need for a full hearing.
The charge was brought by on-field umpires Billy Bowden and Simon Taufel as well as third umpire Steve Davis and fourth official Billy Doctrove.
The middle order batsman had stood his ground, indicating to umpire Bowden that the ball had gone off his arm en route to wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin off Kieron Pollard during the Sunday's match.
Sharma was also seen gesturing to Bowden, asking him to refer it to the third umpire.
Though Bowden was unsure of the legitimacy of the catch, he had consulted leg-umpire Tauffel before ruling Sharma out.
