Barbados:
South Africa captain Graeme Smith was docked 20 per cent of his match fee, while his teammates were fined 10 per cent for maintaining a slow over-rate during their win over New Zealand in the Twenty20 World Cup's Super Eight match in Barbados.
Match referee Alan Hurst imposed the fines after Smith's side was ruled to be one over short of its target at the end of the match, which the South Africans won by 13 runs, when time allowances were taken into consideration.
If Smith, as captain, is found guilty of two further similar over-rate offences over the next 12 months, he will receive a one-match suspension.
The penalty was accepted by South Africa without contest so there was no need for a hearing.
