Politicians hog limelight at Wankhede

Mumbai:

The BCCI awards function at the packed Wankhede Stadium saw the world cup winners take a back seat as the front row was filled by politicians.

Right from the airport one could be mistaken for thinking that it was a political procession. There were flags, posters (picture of Manohar Joshi, Vilasrao Deshmukh) and of course, the politicians.

For the next three hours, the nation saw pictures of the cricketers dancing as they made their way to the heart of Mumbai.

But politicians are an incorrigible lot. Not only did they continue to hog camera space, some seemed to believe they were the champs.
