Pakistan batting legend Hanif Mohammad, who underwent a complicated operation and stayed in London this year for the treatment of liver cancer, had rued on his 79th birthday celebrated last week that he had to take loans to finance his expensive treatment.

Mushtaq said the former captain was under observation in hospital but in good spirits surrounded by his family members including his daughter and youngest son Shahzeb Mohammad.

Hanif Mohammad underwent an operation at London Bridge hospital on Tuesday that saw his right liver lobe and gall bladder removed.

When asked about the future prospects, Dravid, famously known as the 'Wall' of the Indian Cricket team during his playing days, declared that there was no paucity of talent in the Indian cricket.

Dravid, the former India captain and skipper of IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals, said, "I am very happy to see a book on legendary cricketer M.A.K. Pataudi and this book will surely encourage readers to know more about cricket and cricketers.

"Whatever Sachin has achieved on cricket field is remarkable. For many, Bradman is the greatest to have ever graced the cricket field but for me Tendulkar is even a step ahead of Sir Don in terms of cricketing achievements," Hanif told mediapersons here on Saturday.

"I am one of those fortune people who have seen Bradman and Tendulkar bat in my lifetime and in my opinion Tendulkar is the best batsman I have seen in my life," Hanif said.

"Imran Khan was contacted but he is so busy with his political commitments that he said it won't be possible for him to watch the Indo-Pak series. Majid Khan is also not coming due to health issues. But the likes of Hanif Mohammed and Zaheer Abbas are certain to attend the matches," PCB spokesperson Nadeem Sarwar told PTI during an interaction.

According to some sources, the BCCI is happy to call it The Pataudi Trophy, but it will not have his children or wife give away the Cup to the winner as the family is not supporting the series monetarily.
