A right-arm fast bowler, Trent Copeland wasted no time in showcasing his talent, when he emerged as the second highest wicket-taker in the 2008-09 Sydney Grade competition, with 61 wickets at an impressive average of 16.62.
Coming through the St. George Club, “Copes” finished with 35 wickets in his first Sheffield Shield season, the third highest overall and New South Wales's best, despite playing only half the matches. Copeland was then granted his first-class debut at Sydney, against Queensland in 2010, where he bagged ten wickets. He was then named in Australia A's four-day and one-day squad to tour Zimbabwe in 2011, after which he received a call-up to the Test side for the series against Sri Lanka in the same year.
