New Zealand might have a lot of worries coming their way if they fail to pick up a few wickets in the morning session. They need Southee and Boult to strike and they are capable of doing so. Their spinners need to step up a few notches though. Can they curb Pakistan's ascendance today? We'll find out soon.
Hello and welcome to the coverage of DAY 2 of the first Test between Pakistan and New Zealand. Pakistan have resumed from where they left off against the Aussies. They have already jumped into a dominating position, losing just one wicket with 269 on the board. Shehzad scored a century and is still at the crease while Hafeez missed his by four runs. We can expect some attacking cricket from them once they see off the morning session.
That is all we have for you from today then! Thanks a lot for being with us and looking forward to your company tomorrow at 0600 GMT (1130 IST) for the second day's play. Until then, Adios! Take Care!
The Kiwis started the day well with the ball but in the second session, lost their lines before tightening things in the final session. The most disappointing aspect was their fielding, with a stumping being missed (Shehzad on 16) and then a catch being dropped (Azhar on 31) both by Watling. The tourists are still not out of it yet - if they can force a collapse - the famous Pakistan collapse, they will still be within a chance if the score does not go past 350. But considering the way Pakistan played against Australia, looks a tall order.
Misbah won another toss, just the second time in history winning a hat-trick of tosses and I guess, Brendon McCullum sensed trouble. Just one wicket in the whole day and conceding runs at almost 3 runs per over. Shehzad and Hafeez set a wonderful platform and while the latter just missed his century by 4 runs, Shehzad has made the most of his missed stumping. Yup, that was a long way back, when he was on 16. How will Watling be feeling now?

TEAM NEWS - Pakistan have retained the same squad and even the same XI that beat Australia 6 days ago over here. New Zealand have got back Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson from injuries. It will be interesting to see who will open alongside Latham - McCullum, Watling or a slight possibility of Neesham?
TOSS - Misbah has won another toss! This is the first time in 3 years that Misbah has won a hat-trick of tosses! PAKISTAN WILL BAT. Misbah looks pleased with the toss result and says that the openers need to ward off the new ball and then prepare for a flat track. McCullum looks to be disappointed with the toss result but now hopes that his team does well with the ball to restrict Pakistan to a small total.
PITCH REPORT - The track looks like a Day 3 one, according to Danny Morrison. Plenty of cracks. All the best to New Zealand. There will be reverse on offer as well.
WEATHER - It is a bright and sunny morning at Abu Dhabi. As Dean Jones said in the first Australia-Pakistan Test, you will have to wait for another 20 years for it to rain here.
The Black Caps are here! We have just finished a total drubbing of Australia by Pakistan and within a week's time, it is time for New Zealand to challenge them and probably hope for a different result. It is a 3-match Test series and the Kiwis will look to provide a good fight.
