Misbah would consider captaincy if offered

Karachi:

In a flip-flop over his captaincy decision, vice-captain Misbah-ul-Haq has said he would consider leading the Pakistan team if the high-profile job is ever offered to him in future.

"Right now for me it is even a honour to be vice captain of the team. It is not the players job including myself to choose the captain.

"This is the job of the cricket board. But when the time comes I will see," Misbah told reporters in Lahore on Monday.

The middle-order batsman said if he was ever offered the captaincy he would think about it at that time.

"It is premature to talk about it now," he said.

Misbah said Pakistani players were greatly disappointed by the lack of international exposure this year and the postponement of the Champions Trophy had come as a big blow to them.

"It is frustrating to be in such a situation. We were all looking forward to playing in the Champions Trophy at home but now we just have to see what other assignment comes our way," Misbah said.

However, Misbah said players were eager to just start playing domestic cricket as soon as Ramazan finishes.

"We need to start getting involved in proper matches to keep ourselves ready for competition," he said.
