89.3 OUT! LBW! Sibley cannot survive the day! The review does not do him any favors and such a heartbreaking end to the day for Dom Sibley. He batted wonderfully throughout the day but right towards the end, with just 3 balls remaining, he has departed. A Bumrah special finally gets the better of Dom Sibley. These things can happen in the final over of the day. The batter looks to block rather than score and the defensive mindset and tired legs sometimes do get the better of batters. Yorker on middle, Sibley is late in getting his bat down in time. He misses his flick and gets hit flush on the pad. A huge appeal follows and the umpire raises his finger. Sibley has a word with Root and without much confidence but rather hope, he decides to take the review. Replay rolls in and Ultra Edge shows flatline as the ball goes past the bat. Time for the Ball Tracker and it shows three reds. Sibley has to walk back and so do the other players.  But unlike Root, he will not walk out to bat tomorrow morning. STUMPS ON DAY 1!  263/3

25.4 OUT! LBW! As plumb as it gets! Bumrah strikes for the first time in his Test career in India. This is a typical Bumrah delivery. Credit to Kohli as well. He has done his homework. Lawrence is a good player of spin and he easily could have continued with Ashwin after the spinner got a wicket but he introduced Bumrah and his strike bowler gives him the breakthrough. Fuller delivery pitching around off and jagging back in at pace. Lawrence looks to flick but is too late to get his bat down and the ball hits him on the backpad. Bumrah knows he has his man but puts in the mandatory appeal. The umpire has no qualms in raising the finger. Lawrence has a word with Sibley but he gets no support from him for the review. Good call because it looked plumb and the Ball Tracker later on proves it.  63/2

154 OUT! Three reds and Root's fine, fine innings comes to an end! Handshakes from a few Indian players as he walks back towards the pavillion! End of a marathon innings! Nadeem though gets his second. This is lands on middle and then straightens just a touch. Root looks to work it on the leg side but misses. It hits the front pad. An appeal and the finger is raised. Root reviews immediately and signals that he feels it is going down with the angle. Ball Tracker shows it to be straightening and hitting the stumps. He takes a review along with him. This is a good passage of play for India.  477/6

126.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Stop the press. India have taken a wicket at last. Is this the one to open the floodgates? And even this one was nearly dropped. Full and around off, Stokes continues his counter-attacking style and goes for the slog sweep. Connects well but perhaps, gets more height than he would have liked. The distance is not there. Cheteshwar Pujara is stationed at deep backward square leg and it is a regulation catch. He takes it, but oops, fumbles. Luckily for him, the ball goes through his palms, hits his knee and that helps him take it on the rebound. Smiles sheepishly. No real celebration from the Indians, they understand the value of this innings. 82 from 118 balls. Wow. Take a bow,  Ben Stokes. Could well be the difference between the two sides. The 124-run stand has been broken.  387/4

152.2 OUT! LBW! That is as plumb as it gets! Pope's scratchy innings comes to an end! He just never got going and seemed like struggling throughout. Ashwin gets his second. The carom ball does the trick for him. It lands on middle and then straightens a touch. Pope ends up playing down the wrong line and is hit on the pad. An appeal and the finger is raised. Pope does not review and rightly so.  473/5

169.2 OUT! Arms are shouldered and the off stump is rattled! Misjudgement from Buttler and this is not the first time in his career. Anyone who followed the Ashes would remember the way the Aussies dismissed him in 2019. Keep it outside off, just a fraction wide and then make it come back in. Buttler feels this will not come back in enough or if it does, will go over. But to his horror, it comes back in at stump height and pegs the off stump back. End of a 48-run stand.  525/7

185.3 OUT! LBW!! The new ball works for India. Bumrah does the magic with it. The 9th wicket is gone down! India would feel that they should have had taken the new ball earlier. Nicely bowled length ball around middle, Bess looks to defend it to the leg side but ends up missing it. The ball raps him on the pads and there goes an appeal from Jasprit. The umpire's finger goes up and Dom Bess looks to review initially but then decides against it as he walks off.  567/9

3.3 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Archer strikes early. Superb comeback delivery from Archer and he sends Rohit packing. Early success for England. Another shortish length ball, just outside off, moves away a touch. Rohit pokes at it with hard hands. Ends up getting a nick behind and Buttler moves to his right to gobble up the chance. The dangerous Rohit has been removed. He could've easily left that alone this early in the innings. Poor from Rohit.  19/1

9.2 OUT! TAKEN! Anderson with a stunning catch at mid on. Archer gets his man. Both the openers dismissed for India now. A fuller ball from Anderson. Gill punches the drive uppishly. He does that half-heartedly. The ball goes uppishly towards mid on. Anderson there quickly moves to his left and lunges forward to take the low catch. A fine catch from the veteran. His 97th catch in Tests. A solid knock from Gill but he will be disappointed. A fine track for batting but he falls.  44/2

50.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Pujara falls! In a very unfortunate manner though. He is livid with himself. A rank long hop. Pujara rocks back and goes for the pull. He connects it well. But hang on. England are celebrating. Burns catches it. What happened there? He nailed the pull. But the ball hits the back of Ollie Pope at shrot leg who is ducking to save himself. The ball hits his back and lobs to Burns at mid-wicket. This wicket is pretty similar to one India lost in 2001 at the Wankhede. It was SRT then who got out in a similar manner. He went for the pull to the poor ball by Mark Waugh. Tendulkar connected the pull really well but the ball hit ducking Langer, the current Australia coach, and went wide of Ponting who was at mid-wicket. Punter ran to his right and pull off a fine catch with a dive forward. He was unfortunate then, and Pujara now.  192/5

24.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Big, big wicket for England. Bess would be on cloud nine after that wicket. A dream wicket for him. Bess tosses this one up outside off and gets it to spin into Kohli. Virat comes on the front foot and goes to defend it away from the body. The ball catches the inside edge of his bat and lobs straight to Ollie Pope at short leg. Pope there gets to the ball and holds onto it. A fine catch from him. Bess is fired up. He will remember this wicket for a long time.  71/3

26.3 OUT! CAUGHT! That is a stunner! Lovely catch from Root there. Bess into the game here. He first sends the captain and now the vice-captain. Tossed up around off, a bit of dip for Dom as Rahane tries to get to the pitch of the ball. He though chips it uppishly towards covers where Root put out his left hand and the ball sticks into his palm. India in all sorts of trouble with the top order back into the hut.  73/4

56.4 OUT! TAKEN! Bess gets his man. Pant falls. Kohli looking tensed in the dressing room. Big wicket. Floated outside off, Pant dances down the track and looks to go big over extra cover. The ball though spins away. He ends up slicing it high in the air towards extra cover. Leach there comes forward and does well to take the catch. End of a fine counter-attacking knock form Rishabh. Pant lives by the sword and he dies by the same. He got to the 90s in this fashion and once again falls. 4th time in his Test career he has gone for 90.  225/6

86.2 OUT! CAUGHT! The decision to bring on Leach has paid rich dividends for England. He strikes on the second ball and this stand which will troubling England so much has been broken. The extra bounce has done the trick. Flighted and on off, bounces more than what Ashwin expected probably. He prods forward and looks to defend but the ball takes the top half of the bat and lobs to the right of Ashwin. Stokes and Buttler both run towards the ball but Buttler is the one who runs and gobbles this one up. Ashwin stands for a few seconds and then starts walking back. 90.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Nadeem departs and Leach gets his second of the day. What a difference a day makes! He was hammered left, right, and center by Pant on Day 3 but today Leach has been fantastic and gets another one. Slightly shorter on off, not too short just a tad. Nadeem gets on his back foot to defend but the ball turns away and takes the outside edge.  It just about carries to first slip and Stokes there manages to take a good catch. The extra man at silly point made him uncomfortable.  312/8

93.5 OUT! CAUGHT! James Anderson gets his first wicket of the game and Ishant's fight comes to an end. Excellent bowling from Anderson. Sets up the Indian tailender brilliantly. Full ball, followed by another full ball, puts Ishant on the front foot. Then Anderson unleashes a short ball. It is well-directed and more importantly, the ball does raise off the surface. Not an easy thing to do on a subcontinental Day 4 pitch. It is a cross-seam delivery. Ishant awkwardly plays at it and ends up giving a dolly to short leg. Ollie Pope there takes a simple catch. Indians need 56 runs to avoid the follow-on.  323/9

95.5 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! What a stunning catch from Ben Stokes at first slip. Bumrah is unable to negotiate the two balls he was tasked to and India are bowled out. Fabulous catch from Stokes. Anderson bowls a full ball on off, the ball shapes away from Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah looks to defend but gets a thick outside edge and it flies low to the right of first slip. 0.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Joy for India as Ashwin starts the third innings with a wicket of the first ball. The ploy to open the bowling with Ashwin has worked superbly for India.  Brilliant start to the innings if you are an Indian fan, terrible if you are an England fan. Ashwin starts with a floated delivery on off, Burns looks to defend but he gets a thick outside edge which goes to the left of Rahane at first slip. The Indian Test vice-captain moves to that side and takes a very good catch.  0/1

11 OUT! CAUGHT! Ashwin gets another one and Sibley's stay out in the middle comes to an end. India has again done well to snare a wicket at the right time. Looks to defend but the ball spins just enough to induce the inside edge. Ashwin has been rewarded for his great bowling with another wicket. Bowls this one a lot straighter and on the stumps, but gets the ball to spin into the right-hander, Sibley prods forward, thinking that he can defend this one out. The ball though does enough to take the inside edge and go to the leg slip, where Pujara does well to take this one nicely. England are technically at 273 for 2 at the moment.  32/2

15.3 OUT! LBW! That one was plumb and it is Ishant's 300th wicket in Test cricket. Only the third Indian pacer to achieve this feat as he joins Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan in that list. He will be very happy with his milestone and he helps India get another wicket. Sharma bowls this one on a good length and just around off, comes into the right-hander slightly as he looks to flick this one. Lawrence misses and the ball hits him low on the pads. An appeal and the umpire does not take too long to raise his finger. Lawrence comes across and has a chat with Root and decides to review it. Ultra Edge shows a flatline and Ball Tracker is in...THREE REDS! Dan will have to walk back and England lose one review too. England lead by 299 runs.  58/3

23.5 OUT! LBW! Bumrah gets his first of the innings and Root's innings comes to an end. Good length ball pitching around off. It reverses back in and stays low as well. Root looks to defend but the lack of bounce surprises him. The ball misses his bat and hits him plumb in front of the stumps. There is a mandatory appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Root knows he is a goner and does not waste the review. Half the side back in the hut for England. They lead by 342!  101/5

18.1 OUT! CAUGHT! The dangerous Ben Stokes is out of here and Ashwin gets his 3rd of the innings. England ahead in this game but India not giving up here. Flighted delivery outside off, Stokes looks to push it on the off side. The ball though drifts and turns just a fraction. A fraction is good enough to kiss the outside edge of the bat and go straight into the mitts of Rishabh Pant. England lose their 4th and they lead by 312!  71/4

28.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Nadeem gets the wicket and it is his first one in this innings. Pope has played well in his small innings but he loses his wicket in trying to be aggressive. Flighted and on middle, Pope looks to reverse sweep this one again but the ball takes the top edge and lobs towards the cover region where Rohit Sharma takes a good catch. England lead by 371 runs.  130/6

41.2 OUT! STUMPED! Buttler departs and Nadeem gets his second of the game. Once again Nadeem bowls it outside leg, Buttler comes down the track and looks to hit it straight. He misses and Pant behind the stumps has an easy task. He makes no mistake.  165/7

42.1 OUT! The ball hit the pad first and once that was sure there was hardly anything that could have saved Bess. Bess' effort comes to an end. A good knock from the spinner. Shorter on off, Bess looks to defend but the bat gets stuck behind his pad. The ball hits his pad and a huge appeal follows. The umpire raises his finger. Bess takes the review. Ultra Edge shows that there is no bat involved. Time for the Ball Tracker and it shos all reds. 4-fer for Ashwin with that wicket.  167/8

5.3 OUT! TIMBER! What a ripper from Jack Leach! Just a ripper! That will get England going! Superb delivery and it sends Rohit Sharma back to the pavilion. Tossed up on middle, it spins away after pitching. Sharma prods forward to defend but misses and the ball goes onto hit the off stump. Wow, simply brilliant. Leach did not have a good time in the first innings but has started well in the second. India need 395 more.  25/1

26.2 OUT! STUMPS SHATTERED! Anderson has done it! Experience trumps inexperience! Jimmy hurls in a full length ball close to off and gets it to reverse back into the batsman. Gill is forward to defend but leaves a big gap between his bat and pad. The ball sneaks through and destroys the stumps behind. Anderson roars in delight, England get a big wicket and are 7 away from taking the lead in the series.  92/3

19.3 OUT! First wicket falls on Day 5 for India. Beauty of a delivery. Leach lands it full and on middle, gives it a good toss, Pujara gets forward and tries to work it on the leg side at the last moment. But it jumps, takes the shoulder of his bat and Stokes takes a superb catch stretching to his left at first slip. Pujara will be a little disappointed with himself, had he played it out with a straight bat, then he could have defended it down despite the extra bounce.  58/2

54.3 OUT! Sound of timber and heartbreak for India! Kohli is cleaned up! Stokes hunts down the big fish. He delivers it on a length around off and it stays low after pitching. Kohli tries to defend but it goes under his bat and obliterates the off pole. Virat shakes his head as he returns. Stokes is all smiles. 26.5 OUT! Off stump goes for a walk! Anderson is on fire! Rahane bags a duck and England are on top! Jimmy is putting in a masterclass of reverse swing bowling. Wow! This one is identical to the delivery which got Gill. On and around off, a fuller length ball which nips back in sharply. Rahane is forward in defense but he also has a big gap between his bat and pad. The ball finds its way through and uproots the off stump. Five balls, two wickets and Anderson is doing it for England, yet again.  92/4

32.3 OUT! Soft dismissal! Anderson bags his third wicket and Pant is gone! This Test match is now completely in favour of England. Jimmy steams in from 'round the wicket and hurls in a length ball around off. It lands and probably shapes away a bit, Pant presses forward and pushes it uppishly off the outer edge to the right of Root at short cover. A simple catch for the English skipper and India now have lost half their side.  110/5

It's around off, turning and bouncing away from the batsman, Sundar tries to defend but fails to do so. It goes past the outside edge, Buttler collects and appeals but the umpire shakes his head. 51.2 OUT! England have the breakthrough! Leach drags his length short and serves it close to off, Ashwin is tempted to play the square cut but it's too close to his body. There is some extra bounce as well and the outside edge is induced. Excellent reflex catch by Buttler and Leach gets his third wicket.
