Right then, it's a wrap from this high-octane clash where India has clinically defeated Bangladesh and have disrupted their campaign and have leapfrogged as the table toppers in Group 1 with back-to-back wins. India will now head to Barbados for a tough test against Australia. While Bangladesh will battle it out against Afghanistan. Well, the Super-8s have served nail-biting thrillers and have been up to the expectations. Next up is one of the most awaited clashes in the Super-8s. It will be Australia battling it out against Afghanistan. Would Afghanistan have recovered from the wounds the Aussies gave them in the ODI World Cup? We shall find out soon enough. The game will be played on Sunday, 23rd June and the first ball will be bowled at 6 am IST (12.30 am GMT). Till then, take care!
The captain of India, Rohit Sharma says that they know what is expected of them and it is about showing out there on the field. Feels that his team adapted to the conditions quickly. Adds that is about being smart in using the options that you have. Opines that you don't need 50s and 100s in T20 cricket and what matters is how you put the pressure on the bowlers. States that the way Hardik Pandya batted in this game puts them in very good stead and they know what he is capable of. Says that they need Hardik to finish games off for them after the platform is laid by the top 5.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, the skipper of Bangladesh is up for a chat. He says they were looking to restrict India to around 160 but credits them for batting aggressively towards the back end. He thinks that they had a lot of batting options but didn't display the required intent. Adds that when you have 190 odd to chase, you need to go hard in the Powerplay. He says all the batters were well-prepared for the conditions. About his batting, he says that he is trying to bat well every game.
Hardik Pandya is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his all-round brilliance. He says that they have played some really good cricket. Adds that they have stuck together as a team and have stuck to the plans. Further says that guys have stepped up in crunch situations in the tournament so far. Shares that it was important to not let the batters use the breeze and make it tough for them to hit with the wind. Feels that losing wickets in clumps is something they want to avoid going ahead. Tells that he had a freak injury during the ODI World Cup and tried to come back but god had other plans.
The Presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, India was inserted to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who were due for runs, provided a very steady and solid opening stand as both got off the blocks pretty early and negotiated the Powerplay overs playing good strokes. Virat Kohli played some colossal hits and settled well. Rohit Sharma struck a couple of sixes but couldn't extend his innings and perished on 23 off just 11. Virat Kohli then got out on 37 and Suryakumar Yadav too followed without wreaking any damage. But those quick wickets didn't bother Rishabh Pant at all who continued with his magnificent form and inflated the scoring rate without breaking a sweat. But it was Hardik who stayed till the end with a quickfire cameo half-century helping India to mount 196 on the board. Into the chase, Bangladesh got a good start but they failed to capitalise in the mid-overs and kept losing wickets. Najmul Hossain Shanto kept fighting but in the end, the Indian bowlers totally got on top and didn't give any respite to them.
India had a pretty good score on the board, but they knew they had to snag some wickets quickly to really put the squeeze on Bangladesh. Hardik Pandya stepped up big time with a crucial wicket when they needed it most. Bangladesh could've been in even deeper trouble if Pant hadn't shelled an easy catch of Tanzid. Once the fielding restrictions eased up, the spinners started messing with the batters' heads. They made it super tough to score and really cranked up the pressure. The pitch was acting up too with variable bounce and also slowed down as the innings progressed. Kuldeep Yadav cashed in on this, snagging three wickets and barely giving away any runs in his four overs. Then Bumrah came back for round two and turned the screws even more with another wicket. Arshdeep Singh got in on the action too, picking up a couple of scalps of his own. Bumrah ended up with brilliant figures yet again, bowling four overs of pure misery for the batters. He gave away practically nothing, with more than a ton of dot balls and two wickets.
Bangladesh started their chase pretty smoothly. Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das were handling the Indian fast bowlers well, smacking a few good shots to the boundary. Litton Das was looking good with some nice hits, but then he got out sooner. After Litton's departure, the scoring rate drastically took a hit after the first six overs. Tanzid Hasan who got off to a sedate start couldn't extend his innings and got out on 29. Najmul Hossain Shanto then sailed Bangladesh through the mid-overs but a couple of batters perished from the other end. Towhid Hridoy couldn't do much with the bat and neither could Shakib Al Hasan. These two quick blows dented Bangladesh's hopes but the skipper, Shanto tried to ease off the pressure and found some boundaries but eventually got out on a well-made 40. And after his fall, Bangladesh badly struggled and kept losing wickets. Rishad Hossain and Mahmudullah stitched a good partnership striking a few boundaries and sixes but they were left with plenty to chase, and in the end, they just fell like a house of cards.
INDIA HAS CRUSHED BANGLADESH, BEATING THEM BY 50 RUNS! This is the second win for India in the Super 8s and they maintain their dominance over their neighbouring counterparts in T20 World Cups. A clinical performance overall in all three departments by the Men in Blue. This win will surely inflate their NRR to a huge extent on the Points Table in Group 1. And if Australia beats Afghanistan in their next game, India will qualify for the semi-finals as will Australia.

Axar swoops in to his left and dives in front to make a tough catch look easy.
