Colombo:
VVS Laxman who has been out of the team because of a knee injury that he suffered during practice, will play in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Indian team physio Andrew Leipus told reporters that the Hyderabad batsman "is fit enough for the final but not quite there yet".
Laxman was first injured on July 17 in the left knee before the match against Sri Lanka in the first phase at Dambulla. However, he played the first match of the second phase against Bangladesh on July 21.
Laxman was injured during the nets at the same region on July 23. It turned out to be haematoma and he had to miss the match against Pakistan two days later which India lost by 59 runs.
As the injury got aggravated and the player was finding it difficult to walk properly, India had even contemplated seeking a replacement for the batsman.
