India's tour of Pakistan in doubt?

New Delhi:

The Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian High Commission in Pakistan have kept mum about media reports suggesting that India's tour of Pakistan in January 2009 is in doubt.

The situation could, however, change with the news of a blast outside the main cricket stadium in Pehsawar on Tuesday evening, although the venue is not on the itinerary for India's tour next year.

India is due to tour Pakistan from the first week of January to play three Tests, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 game. While the BCCI has cleared the itinerary, it is yet to be approved by the Indian government.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) does not see any immediate threat to the Indian team's tour early next year despite the last-minute cancellation of the Indian junior hockey team's Test series on security grounds.
