Melbourne:
The proof of his talent lies in the fact that he's one of five Victoria players to be selected for the Australia Under-19 team. And though he speaks with that typical Aussie twang, the Kamla Nagar boy hasn't forgotten his Hindi.
"I want Australia to win. But along with that I love watching Sachin, Sourav, Laxman score a 100. I love watch India bat," said Kumar Sarna.
Sarna clawed his way into the Aussie domestic circuit starting with the Under-15's and his efforts over the last four years have earned him the award of the Best Junior Player along with the opening spot in the Victoria under-19 side. Someday he hopes to play for Australia and emulate his current hero.
"Over the years it has changed, but at the moment I'd say its Matthew Hayden. The way he goes about his cricket, he is intense, he shift gears as and when needed, the way he shows his aggression, Yeah, I 'd like to go and bat like him," Sarna added.
Whether he goes on to open the batting for Australia or not, the fact that a player of Indian origin broke into an Australian state team, and that he was recently picked for Australia's Under-19 World Cup squad speaks volumes about Kumar Sarna's achievement and his talent.
