India were a bowler short against Aussies: Gillespie

Tactical blunders cost India the Super Eight match against Australia in the World Twenty20 but they have it in them to bounce back from the loss, feels former pacer Jason Gillespie.

"I have a lot of respect for MS Dhoni as a captain but I think India missed a trick yesterday. Two seam bowlers and Harbhajan Singh as the only specialist spinner cost India and they were definitely one bowler short," Gillespie said.

India lost by 49 runs after Australia posted an imposing 184 for five riding on David Warner and Shane Watson's blazing half centuries in Barbados, West Indies.

Gillespie felt despite the humiliating loss, Indians have it in them to bounce back.

"This is not over for India yet and they will learn from their mistakes. The key to doing well in Twenty20 cricket is taking wickets and once you fail to do that, you are in trouble," he said.

Gillespie said yesterday's collapse notwithstanding, the Indian batting line-up remains intimidating.

"Gautam Gambhir is a very good player and I dont see his spot in danger. He has been through a bit of a rough patch but that can happen to any cricketer. Vijay of course has to prove himself at the top but the rest of the batting order is solid," he said.

Gillespie lavished praise on Michael Clarke's men for their all-round display.

"Australia are finally finding their rhythm in the T20 format. Clarke is the kind of player who likes to get the single and two's and then open up. When the opportunities come, he will I am sure fire," he told 'espnstar.com'.

"Having said that Australia have a power-packed hundred batting line-up with Watson, Warner, the Hussey brothers and Cameron White and add to that a terrific bowling attack. So yes, Clarke has a very good team at his disposal," he added.
