c Faf du Plessis b Kagiso Rabada
61 OUT! The centurion has been dismissed by none other than the sole wicket-taker of the day, Kagiso Rabada! It was a good length ball, which was angled into Agarwal, it pitched and straightened a bit. Mayank had committed to the shot and the ball went off the outside edge to first slip. Just like his last wicket, the skipper of South Africa, Faf du Plessis at first slip takes a good catch. Mayank Agarwal walks off the pitch to a standing ovation from the crowd and the players. A great knock by him comes to an end. 198/3

Rohit Sharma | 14 | 35 | 1 | 0 | 40 |
c Quinton de Kock b Kagiso Rabada
10 OUT! CAUGHT! The man on a red-hot streak is out of here and the man who looked least likely to take a wicket since morning has done the trick. Length ball outside off by Rabada, Sharma looks to fend at this one. The ball goes off his outside edge and straight into the gloves of de Kock who will not drop those. One of the most potent threats to the visitors is out of here and this might just be the spark that Rabada needs to ignite himself after a dull morning so far. 25/1

Cheteshwar Pujara | 58 | 112 | 9 | 1 | 51.78 |
c Faf du Plessis b Kagiso Rabada
51 OUT! CAUGHT! A wicket right near the end of the second session of play and just what the doctor ordered for South Africa! Rabada is the man again to give the visitors a breakthrough. Bowls it on a length just outside off, it nips back in. Pujara is stuck in his crease and on the back foot. He tries to defend it but the ball goes off the outside edge low towards the left of first slip. Faf du Plessis, the South African skipper there makes no mistake there as he takes a very difficult catch. He is down on the ground after taking the catch almost in relief. A very important breakthrough for the Proteas as they break the 138-run stand. 163/2

Ajinkya Rahane | 59 | 168 | 8 | 0 | 35.11 |
c Quinton de Kock b Keshav Maharaj
117.2 OUT! Caught! Finally some success for South Africa on the day. Maharaj has found a way to get past the defense of Ajinkya Rahane. Keshav gives this air on off, the ball turns and bounces away from Rahane. He looks to defend but the ball kisses the outside edge of the bat and goes straight into the mitts of de Kock. The South African players appeal and the umpire after a slight delay raises his finger. This has been a tough tour for Keshav Maharaj but this might act as a sweetener as Rahane becomes his 100th Test victim. 376/4

Ravindra Jadeja | 91 | 104 | 8 | 2 | 87.5 |
c Theunis de Bruyn b Senuran Muthusamy
156.3 OUT! Jadeja holes out and with that India have decided to declare! And guess what? Muthusamy has not overstepped this time. Tossed up on middle, Jadeja looks to whack it over long off. He gets the height but not the distance. It goes to the right of long off, Theunis de Bruyn runs to his right and takes a very good catch. Jadeja misses out on a well-deserved ton but this shows the heart of this man. He could have taken his time to achieve the milestone but he decides to go for the big one and falls. Nonetheless, the man has played an innings worth being called as 'Sir'. India declare on 601/5. 601/5

3.5 OUT! TIMBER! Chopped on by Elgar and it looks like South Africa are going to collapse here. Length ball just outside off, Elgar is caught in two minds whether to play at it or not. Initially he looks to play at it but then tries to leave it alone. It is too late by then as the ball goes off the inside edge onto the pads and then hits the stumps. Dean looks distraught at how his wicket has fallen but the Indians are ecstatic. 13/2

Aiden Markram | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
lbw b Umesh Yadav
1.2 OUT! LBW! What a comeback into the squad by Umesh Yadav! He has taken the wicket of Aiden Markram on just his second ball and South Africa have already lost their first wicket. Bowls a good length delivery just outside off, the last ball nipped away, this one kept on going straight and beat the inside edge of Markram's bat. The Indian players go up in appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Markram does not review it and that is a good decision as the Ball Tracker later on rolls and shows three reds and it is a good decision that they opted against taking the review. 2/1

Theunis de Bruyn | 30 | 58 | 6 | 0 | 51.72 |
c Wriddhiman Saha b Umesh Yadav
21 OUT! Cuaght! Excellent catch from Saha! Umesh strikes and the man who was looking very good departs. South Africa have half their side back in the pavilion. Brilliant ball from Umesh. He hits the deck hard around off, it is in the channel of uncertainty. The ball moves away off the deck. Theunis looks to punch it on the up but the ball takes a thick outside edge and goes to the right of Saha. He dives on that side and takes a superb catch. India are all over South Africa. Forget the spinners, the pacers are troubling the Proteas. 53/5

Temba Bavuma | 8 | 15 | 1 | 0 | 53.33 |
c Wriddhiman Saha b Mohammed Shami
9.1 OUT! Caught! Shami strikes on his very first ball. What a start this is for Shami. Brilliant review too by Virat Kohli. He cannot do anything wrong today, can he? Shami comes steaming in and hits the deck hard around the channel just outside off. Bavuma looks to punch it on the up. The ball goes behind to the keeper who takes it. The Indian players put in a huge appeal but the umpire is unmoved. Kohli signals the 'T' and takes it upstairs. Ultra Edge rolls in and shows a spike on it as the ball goes past the bat. Bavuma has to walk back and South Africa in deep trouble now. 33/3

Anrich Nortje | 3 | 28 | 0 | 0 | 10.71 |
c Virat Kohli b Mohammed Shami
17.2 OUT! Caught! The night watchman goes early in the morning. Back of a length ball closer to the body, Anrich looks to defend but the ball takes a thick outside edge and goes to the right of fourth slip. Indian captain, Virat Kohli there dives to that side and takes a good low catch. He cannot do anything wrong in this game, can he? South Africa lose their first wicket on Day 3. India strike early and Shami gets his second of the game. 41/4

Faf du Plessis C | 64 | 117 | 9 | 1 | 54.70 |
c Ajinkya Rahane b Ravichandran Ashwin
58.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Beauty by Ashwin! Take a bow! He has bamboozled Faf du Plessis completely! The skipper departs and the South African resistance looks to be coming to an end. Floated just outside, the ball pitches in the rough. It has a touch of extra spin and bounce on it. Du Plessis looks to defend it but the ball goes off the outside edge towards Rahane at first slip who makes no mistake. South Africa 8 down now and no recognised batters left in the lineup now. 162/8
|
|||||
Quinton de Kock Wk | 31 | 48 | 7 | 0 | 64.58 |
b Ravichandran Ashwin
38 OUT! TIMBER! What a beauty by Ravichandran Ashwin! De Kock cannot believe he has been bowled and is still having a look at the stumps. Ashwin bowls a flatter delivery on middle and off, the ball pitches and spins away a touch. De Kock is in his crease looking to defend it off his back foot but the ball goes past his outside edge. It just about clips the bails of the off pole and the ball is gathered by Saha behind the stumps. De Kock is confused about what happened. His skipper asks him from the other end whether he nicked it to which de Kock denies. De Kock then asks one of the Indian players and he replies that de Kock has been bowled. He looks at the giant screen and then starts walking back to the pavilion. South Africa 6 down now and du Plessis looks like the lone warrior now. 128/6

|||||
Senuran Muthusamy | 7 | 20 | 0 | 0 | 35 |
lbw b Ravindra Jadeja
44.2 OUT! LBW! Brilliant decision from umpire Nigel Llong! India strike very soon after the break. Floated delivery outside off, Jadeja was aiming for the rough. Muthusamy gets his front foot out and looks to pad it away. Jadeja and the Indian players put in a stifled appeal. The ball goes behind and it looks like the umpire has turned it down but then the umpire raises his finger. Muthusamy has a word with Faf du Plessis and then refers it upstairs. Replay rolls in and shows the impact was outside but as Senuran was not offering any shot that is not an issue. The Ball Tracker then shows the ball was going onto hit the stumps. Muthusamy has to walk back to the pavilion for the first time as this is his first dismissal in the series. Replays later on show Jadeja was not even appealing. He had his hand on his head and was surprised and delighted when the umpire had raised his finger. South Africa lose one of their two reviews. 139/7

c Rohit Sharma b Ravichandran Ashwin
101.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Finally the resistance of South Africa is broken and Ashwin is the man to provide the breakthrough! Ashwin bowls a floated one on the pads, Maharaj looks to flick it down the leg side. He connects but does so uppishly. The leg slip fielder is perfectly positioned and takes the catch there. Rohit Sharma takes a dolly and he is getting hugs from all his teammates. A brilliant, gritty and fighting knock from Keshav Maharaj comes to an end. 271/9
|
|||||
Kagiso Rabada | 2 | 9 | 0 | 0 | 22.22 |
lbw b Ravichandran Ashwin
105.4 OUT! LBW! Rabada is the last wicket to fall and finally, after some stubborn resistance, South Africa have been dismissed for 275. Ashwin gets his 4th wicket of the innings and India will be mightily pleased to know that this innings has ended today itself. Ashwin floats this one on the middle pole line, it pitches and straightens but not enough to meet Rabada's blade as he plays outside the line. The ball hits him on the pad, India appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Rabada straightaway goes for the review knowing he is the last man at the crease. Replays roll in, Ultra Edge shows no bat involved. Ball Tracker comes into play and shows the ball to be hitting the leg pole. This is the 50th Test wicket for Ravichandran Ashwin against South Africa. That will be the last ball of the day as the umpire takes the bails off. STUMPS, DAY 3! 275/10

0.2 OUT! LBW! India start with a bang! The first one was on a length and came back in. Markram was lucky to survive that but on this occasion he is not. Ishant goes slightly fuller and once again gets the ball in to the right-hander. Markram looks to defend but the ball hits him on high on the pads. The Indian players go up in a huge appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Markram has a word with his partner, Elgar. Dean does not look sure and just when Markram was about to review the timer gets to zero. Markram's first pair in Tests. Ishant gets his first wicket of the game. Well hold on, Ball Tracker later on rolls in and it is a disappointing news for Markram, Elgar and the whole of South Africa. The Ball Tracker shows the ball was going onto miss the stumps. 0/1

Dean Elgar | 48 | 72 | 8 | 0 | 66.66 |
c Umesh Yadav b Ravichandran Ashwin
25.2 OUT! Elgar has thrown it away! With Lunch minutes away, all he had to do was to get through the overs. Ashwin flights this one around off, Elgar looks to play it over the bowler's head but the ball takes the outside edge and lobs high past mid off. Umesh Yadav runs behind to his right, gets under the ball but fumbles twice before catching it cleanly. Elgar heads to the pavilion, two short of his half ton. Wicket number two for Ashwin. 71/4

Theunis de Bruyn | 8 | 18 | 2 | 0 | 44.44 |
c Wriddhiman Saha b Umesh Yadav
5.4 OUT! Caught! Brilliant catch from Wridhimann Saha and smart bowling from Umesh. He was bowling in and around off and then he surprises Theunis with a one down the leg side. He tried it in the last over but that was way down, this one is closer to the body. De Bruyn looks to flick but the ball kisses his bat and goes to the left of the keeper. Saha dives to that side and takes a one-handed stunner. If you were wondering why Saha was picked over Pant, then this catch is the reason. He is hailed as one of the best keepers in the world and this is a proof of it. South Africa in all sorts of trouble. 2 down in the 6th over of the day. 21/2
|

Faf du Plessis C | 5 | 54 | 0 | 0 | 9.25 |
c Wriddhiman Saha b Ravichandran Ashwin
23.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Saha you beauty. What a blinder that from the wicket keeper. Faf du Plessis has to walk back. Ashwin fires this one closer to the off pole, Faf looks to defend but the ball takes an inside edge, hits the back thigh and goes to Saha behind the wicket very quickly. Saha there fumbles a bit but does well to keep the ball in the air, once, twice, thrice and then in the fourth attempt he gobbles it diving forward. Excellent work from Saha and he continues to prove why Kohli terms him as the best keeper of the country. Just 5 runs off 54 balls for the Protea skipper. His long vigil ends and the situation for South Africa worsen further. 10 minutes to go for Lunch. Can India strike one more time? 70/3

|||||
Temba Bavuma | 38 | 63 | 4 | 1 | 60.31 |
c Ajinkya Rahane b Ravindra Jadeja
43.2 OUT! Caught! Bavuma's fight comes to an end. Floated delivery around off, Bavuma looks to drive it to the off side. The ball though spins away and kisses the outside edge. It goes to the left of Rahane at first slip. The Indian Test side's vice captain dives on that side and takes an excellent catch. 125/6
|
|||||
Quinton de Kock Wk | 5 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 55.55 |
b Ravindra Jadeja
28.2 OUT! BOWLED! The ball kept low but that is such an unnecessary shot from de Kock. Jadeja bowls it slower through the air outside off. It pitches on the rough and spins in. The ball keeps low as well. De Kock for some absurd reason goes for a big slog sweep but the ball goes between the bat and pad onto the middle stump. Quinton will not be happy looking at his shot selection once he has a look back. Brilliant start for India! Half the side back in the hut for South Africa. 79/5

|||||
Senuran Muthusamy | 9 | 44 | 1 | 0 | 20.45 |
c Rohit Sharma b Mohammed Shami
44.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Shami strikes. Change of angle has done the trick. The second innings' Shami has arrived. He got a short leg fielder for the left-hander. He bowls a back of a length ball around off, Senuran looks to fend it off of his toes but the ball takes the outside edge and goes straight to Rohit Sharma at second slip. Very seldom we get to see an Indian bowler bouncing out a batsman with a short ball on the fourth day Indian surface. Top stuff from Mohammed Shami. India just three wickets away from a win. 129/7
|
|||||
Vernon Philander | 37 | 72 | 2 | 2 | 51.38 |
c Wriddhiman Saha b Umesh Yadav
66.1 OUT! CAUGHT! The consistent bad ball has actually produced the breakthrough. Once again Umesh bowls it full and down the leg side. Philander looks to flick but the ball takes a slight edge and goes to the left of the keeper. Saha moves swiftly to that side and takes a fine catch. The 56-run stand is broken. Lucky breakthrough for Umesh but he isn't complaining. 185/8
|
|||||
Keshav Maharaj | 22 | 65 | 3 | 0 | 33.84 |
lbw b Ravindra Jadeja
67.2 OUT! The on-field umpire is spot on! Three reds and South Africa have been bundled out. Shorter pitching on off, Keshav looks to defend but misses. The ball hits him on his back pad. The Indian players go up in a loud and confident appeal. The umpire nods his head and raises his finger. Maharaj takes it upstairs. Replays roll in, Ultra Edge shows that there was no bat involved and then Ball Tracker shows three reds. The ball was clipping the leg pole. INDIA WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 137 RUNS. 189/10
|
|||||
Kagiso Rabada | 4 | 5 | 1 | 0 | 80 |
c Rohit Sharma b Umesh Yadav
67 OUT! CAUGHT! The over ends the way it started. India now just a wicket away from wrapping up this game. Fuller outside off, Rabada looks to defend but then decides to leave. Too late though as the ball finds the edge and goes to the man at second slip. Rohit Sharma bends forward and takes a good catch. 189/9
