Ben Stokes bowls his first ball of the series and it is an absolute peach and Rohit Sharma cannot believe it, actually no one can and even Stokes just walks back to his mark like it is no big deal. Perfect length, angles it onto off and middle but the ball straightens beautifully off the deck and beats the outside edge to knock over the top of off stump. Rohit walks back after a century and England finally have a breakthrough, courtesy of their talismanic skipper.  275/2

Nagging length around off stump, not full enough to drive and Shubman Gill simply looks to block it off the front foot. Bashir seemed to be on a roll with his tight lines and lengths and bowls this one just a fraction full and drifts it into middle. Padikkal neither comes forward nor does he press back and is just stranded a bit. Foakes departs after a disappointing shot and Ashwin joins an elite list of players to have taken a fifer in their 100th Test match and the entire Indian team is delighted.  113/6

34.2 OUT! LBW! A masterstroke from the stand-in captain and he gets his first wicket of the match. Jasprit Bumrah stays around the wicket and pitches it a bit further up on off stump, gets it to angle in a bit and then holds its line after pitching. Tom Hartley doesn't pick the length and goes on the back foot before getting beaten all ends up. The ball crashes into the back pad and that is an easy decision for the umpire to make as the finger is raised and Hartley doesn't even bother with the review.  141/7
