I am not yet ready for international cricket: Quiney

Melbourne:

He is all set to make his debut for Australia in Sunday's Twenty20 International against New Zealand, but young left-handed batsman Rob Quiney said although he was delighted to get a call in the national team, he feels he is still not ready for international cricket.

Quiney was on Friday named as injured Twenty20 captain Michael Clarke's replacement for tomorrow's match against the Kiwis at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The 26-year-old Victorian received the news shortly after scoring a run-a-ball 50 in his side's win over New South Wales yesterday, but was frank to admit that he was not yet ready to make the big leap.

"No I don't, at the moment I'm trying to cement a spot in this side (with Victoria) and be more productive so when the likes of (Brad) Hodge, (David) Hussey and (Cameron) White aren't playing that the team can rely on me for runs," Quiney was quoted as sayin by the 'Daily Telegraph'.

"That's my goal at the moment and unfortunately I missed out (on big scores) the last couple games. I found out about half an hour after I got out, so it was some sort of joy at going out, it's an awesome feeling. The few games leading up to it weren't too crash hot, but I feel like I'm hitting the ball well and the longer you're out there the better you get.

"I'm nervous now already thinking about it," he added.
