England vs India 1st ODI: That's A Wrap!
Okay folks! That's all we have had for you from the match. Our live blog for this contest ends here but stay connected with NDTV sports for more such action. Good-bye.
England vs India 1st ODI: Bumrah Named Player Of The Match
Jasprit Bumrah has been named the Player of the Match for his bowling figures of 6 for 19. He was unplayable at times today and kept England at bay since the start of the game. It is worth noting that 6 for 19 are also his best figures in ODI cricket.
Another short ball to Rohit and it's just another pull shot for a six. England bowlers are extremely optimistic and it's not helping their case. India need only 2 more runs to win.
A single from Dhawan and the partnership between him and Rohit for the opening wicket is now of 100 runs. India need 11 more runs to lead the three-match ODI series 1-0.
A good length delivery from Carse hit the pad of Rohit Sharma but umpire was unmoved over the appeal. England took a review and it later turned out to be clipping the stumps. England saved their review and Rohit also survived.
Class at its very best! Carse bowled a half-volley outside off stump and Rohit just had to guide it for a four towards deep point. He is playing a gem today.
Another short ball from Overton and it's another six! Neither the England bowlers are stopping from bowling short balls to Rohit, nor the batter is worried about the outcome. For now, only boundaries are coming off it.
Four from Rohit Sharma's willow! The Indian captain didn't get it from upper half of his bat but a good placement saw the ball easily running for a four towards square leg boundary.
An outside off deliery from Craig Overton and Rohit Sharma edged it in front of the non-existent third slip. The ball raced for a four towards third man.
Rohit Sharma and pull shots is a sweet love story and it continues to grow. David Willey bowled him a bouncer and Rohit comfortably deposited it into the crowd for a six.
England vs India 1st ODI: Five-Wicket Haul For Bumrah
Bowled! Jasprit Bumrah has cleaned up Carse and with the wicket, he also completes his five-wicket haul. It's his second in ODI cricket. He is a special bowler and time and again, he reminds everyone about it with his brilliance. England are nine down.
A short ball from Hardik to Carse and the latter plays a good pull shot for a four towards deep mid-wicket. The pitch seems to have eased down a bit at the moment.
Brydon Carse gets a short ball outside off stump from Prasidh Krishna and he hits it for a four. This is a poor ball from Krishna. You cannot bowl a short outside off stump with no deep point fielder.
A beautiful inswinger from Mohammed Shami gets the better of Craig Overton. England are eight down now and they are just two wickets away from getting bowled out for a paltry total. Indian pacers have only made things poorer for them since the start of the match.
Prasidh Krishna bowls onto the pads of Craig Overton. The latter didn't get it from the middle of his bat but the ball still ran for a four on the leg side.
Jos Buttler is out! This is smart bowling from Shami. He kept bowling short to Buttler with a proper plan. Buttler got a four earlier but his attacking instinct eventually saw him hitting a the ball into the hands of backward square leg fielder Suryakumar Yadav.
Wow! This is some shot from Buttler. It was a short ball bowled outside off stump from Prasidh Krishna and Buttler hit it from the back foot for a four towards deep point.
Buttler hits a four on long-off. This is his fourth boundary of the innings. He has batted well so far and England, at the moment, need a special innings for him.
England vs India 1st ODI: India Dominate Powerplay!
