Sushil Kumar Most-Searched Athlete After Winning Commonwealth Games Gold

Double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar emerged the most-searched Indian sportsperson in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, according to a media release issued by Google. Sushil Kumar won one of the five golds Indian wrestlers clinched in the Games. India finished fifth in the medal tally.
Badminton remained the most-searched sporting discipline as Parupalli Kashyap became the first Indian to win a men's singles gold at the Games in 32 years. Kashyap generated a lot of buzz online. Boxing and wrestling stood second and third, respectively, among the highly searched disciplines during the Commonwealth Games.
After Sushil Kumar, Beijing Olympic gold winner Abhinav Bindra was the second-most searched Indian athlete. Bindra won the gold medal in his last Commonwealth Games. Other Indians who were widely searched online included Vijender Singh (boxing), Yogeshwar Dutt (wrestling) and Vikas Gowda (athletics).
