Live Score - India vs England updates
That is all we have for you from tonight! Australia on 10, England on 5, India on 0. The hosts almost have one leg in the final thanks to two bonus point wins but they would like to seal it with a win on Friday. However, they would be without Warner, Bailey and Johnson and a fired-up Anderson will prove to be a tough contest for the home batsmen who trounced a lackluster England on Friday. Do join us back on Friday, 23rd January, 2015 at 0320 GMT (0850 IST). Until then, Adios! Take Care!
STEVEN FINN HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH for his exceptional bowling.
It has been a difficult few months for England and this win will give them a lot of confidence. Yes, they had favourable conditions but they bowled really well. Jimmy Anderson showed why he is missed dearly by his team and India suffered. They will look to take this momentum to Hobart where they take on arch rivals Australia on Friday, the 23rd.
India might say that they were looking beyond this series but the batsmen need to do more than just throw their bats around. Even with the ball, apart from Binny no one looked like even interested in picking up a wicket or attempting to do so. India will hope that they forget this day and come out stronger on the 26th, when they meet Australia at the SCG for the second leg of the series.
Defending 154 was never going to be easy under conditions which became better for batting and when the scorecard reads that victory has come with 9 wickets to spare, well, you needn't say much. India threw in a surprise, giving Stuart Binny the first new ball and he didn't do too badly but the others failed to impress... almost going through their motions.
English team - They came, they saw, they conquered. Indian team - They came, they saw, they experimented but failed. A forgetful day for India as England thump them by a bonus point. The conditions were not the be best for batting but the Indian batsmen just threw their wickets away and the tail found Finn and Anderson too hot to handle.
THAT DOES IT! Pitched up on middle, Taylor paddle sweeps it through fine leg for a boundary. England win the match by 9 wickets and also get a bonus point for this comprehensive victory.
Tossed up on middle, Bell drives it to mid on for a run.
Flat outside off, Bell tries cutting but the ball is too close to bat and gets an inside edge for into the ground.
Full on off, Taylor drives it to mid on.
