Jones pulls out of 200 metres

Marion Jones withdrew from the 200 metres at the US track and field trials on Saturday.

Marion Jones withdrew from the 200 metres at the US track and field trials on Saturday, leaving the five-time Olympic medallist qualified only in the long jump for the Athens Games. Barring an unusual set of circumstances that alters the 100-metre field, Jones will not defend either of the Olympic sprint gold medals she won in Sydney four years ago. She finished fifth in the 100-metre finals a week ago. Jones won the long jump competition at the Olympic trials. By making the US team in that event, she automatically qualifies for all relays.
