IPL 2013: Why Mukesh and Nita Ambani missed the final
Sources say, the Ambanis have promised to make up for their absence by throwing a gala party for the entire team at their Altamount Road residence in Mumbai.

She is usually seen in the Mumbai Indians' team dugout along with players, enthusiastically cheering them on, but on the biggest day of the team's IPL career so far, Nita Ambani was conspicuously missing.
The reason: Mrs Ambani and her husband, Mukesh Ambani, were busy with their elder son and daughter's graduation ceremony in New York, forcing them to miss the team's memorable triumph and Sachin Tendulkar's retirement from the IPL.
However, their youngest son Anant was seen celebrating with the team and hoisting the trophy. See pictures
"They were in a catch-22 situation with Akash and Isha's graduation day in New York clashing with the IPL final. Since, it was an once in a life-time thing, they had to fly to New York," a player said. Also read: MS Dhoni avoids the media for second time in two days

On Sunday though, Mrs Ambani's absence was largely felt when Sachin bade an emotional farewell from IPL. However, the couple congratulated each member of the squad after the match from New York.
The players later partied till the wee hours of Monday with a host of Mumbai Indians supporters outside their team hotel in Kolkata. Some members had asked Srinivasan to quit: BCCI sources
They left for their respective home cities in batches on Monday afternoon, waving a final goodbye to a city which had given them the elusive IPL Trophy.
