Fast rising Indian teen Yuki Bhambri advanced to the second round of the singles qualifying event of Delray Beach International Tennis Championships after notching up a straight set win over higher ranked Marcel Felder of Uruguay.
Bhambri, ranked 324 in the ATP chart, overcame Felder, who is 82 places above him, 6-4 6-3 in the opening round of the qualifying event.
The lanky Delhi player will next take on South African Davis Cupper Izak van der Merwe.
Merwe is coming into the match after ousting sixth seed American Donald Young 2-6 6-3 6-3.
Bhambri though will take confidence from the fact that he had beaten Merwe in his Davis Cup debut last year during the India-South Africa World Group play-off tie.
