New Delhi:
Riding on their recent successes, Somdev Devvarman leapfrogged to 140th, while Sania Mirza rose to 74th in the latest tennis singles rankings issued on Monday.
Somdev owed his rise to his stellar show at the Legg Mason Classic in Washington, where the Indian qualifier stunned world No. 15 Marin Cilic in the second round before Ivo Karlovic ended his dream run.
The sterling show helped Somdev jump 13 places in the ATP rankings chart.
Sania Mirza could not win her second consecutive ITF title but her final appearance in Vancouver Open helped the Hyderabadi ace jump nine places to 74th in the WTA rankings ladder.
In men's doubles, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi clung onto their sixth and ninth positions respectively.
