Prime Minister Narendra Modi Congratulates Sania Mirza for Winning US Open Mixed Doubles
Top seeds Sania Mirza and Bruno Soares defeated American-Mexican pairing of Abigail Spears and Santiago Gonzalez 6-1, 2-6, 11-9 to win the title at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on Friday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Sania Mirza for winning the US Open mixed doubles title, saying it was a matter of pride.
"Congratulations to Sania Mirza for the victory in the US Open Mixed Doubles Finals. We are very proud of the achievement," the Prime Minister said.
He also congratulated Japanese tennis player Kei Nishikori for making it to the US Open Finals.
"Good news from US Open continued with Kei Nishikori's exemplary win! My best wishes to this young sportsman for the Final," the Prime Minister said. (Also Read: Sania Dedicates US Open Win to Telangana and India)
On Friday, the first-time combination of Sania and Brazil's Bruno Soares clicked brilliantly by securing a close win in the final to win the mixed doubles trophy. (Read: 'Still Proud Indian')
The top-seeded Indo-Brazilian pair squandered five straight championship points before scoring a 6-1, 2-6, 11-9 win over Abigail Spears from the USA and Santiago Gonzalez from Mexico in exactly 60 minutes.
