Montreal:
Andy Murray ended Nikolay Davydenko's 12-match winning run by 6-2, 6-4 in the Rogers Cup quarterfinals on Friday.
The eighth-seeded Davydenko came into the tournament following wins at Hamburg and Umag.
Third-seeded Murray has yet to drop a set in the tournament.
It is Murray's third trip to the Rogers Cup semifinals. Last year in Toronto, he lost to eventual champion Rafael Nadal. He was also in the semis in 2006.
Murray will next play either top-seeded Roger Federer or No. 7 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France.
In late matches, No. 4 Novak Djokovic faces No. 5 Andy Roddick and No. 2 Rafael Nadal plays No. 6 Juan Martin Del Potro.
It is the first time that the eight top-ranked players in the world have reached any quarterfinals since the ATP world rankings debuted in 1973.
