Prague:
World number four Petra Kvitova will lead the Czech Fed Cup team against four-time champions Russia in the competition final on November 5 and 6 in Moscow, team captain Petr Pala said on Thursday.
Pala also named world number 27 Lucie Safarova, number 51 Lucie Hradecka, and Kveta Peschke, the world number two in doubles rankings, for the tie.
"It wasn't an easy decision, I spent a few days and nights over it," Pala told reporters.
Eight Czechs were among the top 100 of the latest WTA rankings issued on October 10, with six making the top 50.
The Czechs, who reached the Fed Cup semifinals in the past two years, are eyeing their first trophy in the competition since former Czechoslovakia won in 1986.
