Juan Monaco, Mikhail Youzhny advance to Swiss Open quarters

Monaco will face Mikhail Youzhny on Friday, in the same half of the draw as Roger Federer. The top-seeded Swiss begins in the clay-court event on Thursday against Daniel Brands of Germany.

Fourth-seeded Juan Monaco advanced to the Swiss Open quarterfinals, easing past Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, 6-1, 6-2 on Wednesday.

Monaco will face Mikhail Youzhny (in pic) on Friday, in the same half of the draw as Roger Federer. The top-seeded Swiss begins in the clay-court event Thursday against Daniel Brands of Germany.

Youzhny, the No. 6 seed, beat his second-round opponent Pablo Andujar, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Another seeded player to advance Wednesday was Feliciano Lopez. The fifth-seeded Spaniard won 6-4, 6-3 against Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia.

The headline match later pitted Stanislas Wawrinka against Daniel Gimeno-Traver.
