Santiago:
Former world number five Fernando Gonzalez of Chile said Saturday that he would return from an eight-month injury layoff at the ATP tournament in Belgrade next week.
The 30-year-old said that the tournament would be the beginning of a farewell tour.
"It will be symbolic because I feel it will be the beginning of the end of my career," Gonzalez told Chilean magazine Sabado.
Gonzalez has not played since retiring in the first round of the US Open last August and after undergoing hip surgery in November has fallen to 519th in the rankings.
"It will take more time to realise what I'm capable of doing," said Gonzalez, adding that his big objective remained the 2012 London Olympics.
