David Ferrer easily beat Feliciano Lopez 6-2, 6-0 Wednesday in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters.
The fourth-seeded Spaniard broke his opponent's serve five times, while Lopez had six double-faults.
Eleventh-seeded Viktor Troicki of Serbia, No. 13 Richard Gasquet of France and No. 15 Marin Cilic of Croatia also advanced to the third round.
Troicki beat Fabio Fognini of Italy 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, while Gasquet defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain 6-2, 6-1. Cilic was leading Pere Riba 5-2 when the Spaniard retired.
Six-time defending champion Rafael Nadal was to play later Wednesday against Jarkko Nieminen of Finland. The top-ranked Spaniard is looking for his first title since last October.
