World number seven Tomas Berdych will lead the Czech Republic in their Davis Cup World Group semi-final tie against Argentina on September 14-16, the Czech Davis Cup team said Tuesday.
Berdych, who is facing Roger Federer in the US Open quarter-finals on Wednesday, will team up with 38th-ranked Radek Stepanek, 91st-ranked Lukas Rosol, and world number 189 Ivo Minar for the Davis Cup tie in Buenos Aires.
"They are all looking forward to the game, you don't play the semi-finals every week," said team captain Jaroslav Navratil, whose team led by Berdych reached the Davis Cup finals in 2009.
"We're facing a tough opponent who seldom loses at home, but I think the chances will be equal," Navratil added.
The Czech Republic beat Serbia 4-1 in the Davis Cup quarter-finals in April, while last year's finalists Argentina saw off Croatia 4-1.
In the other semi-final tie, trophy holders Spain will take on the United States in Gijon.
