New Delhi:
On a high after winning his second ATP World Tour doubles trophy, Rohan Bopanna is dreaming of upsetting formidable Russia in their own den when India take them on in a World Group tie next month.
India made the World Group after a long gap of 11 years when they beat South Africa in an away tie, last year.
Bopanna, who is fine form and won his maiden ATP doubles title with Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, is upbeat about the upcoming tie.
"I want to keep my form and one major goal is to win the Davis Cup tie against Russia. I think that would be phenomenal if we can manage it. I also want to maintain my fitness and health to remain injury-free," Bopanna said.
Bopanna though said it would be extremely tough tie for India since Russia have world class players in their ranks like Nikolay Davydenko, who recently defeated Roger Federer, and Mikhail Youzhny.
Ever since turning pro in 2003 Bopanna has played with a lot of partners but found his chemistry best with Aisam.
"Well everyone was different playing with and will always cherish playing with all of them for sure. Well memories of course with Prakash. I made my first tour event final with him. With Mahesh won Davis Cup tie.
"With Aisam, winning the tour event and over 10 challengers is special. I have had the most success with Aisam in the challenger and the tour event level." he said.
