Eighth seed Andy Murray defeated Russia's Andrey Kuznetsov 6-1, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 in the round of 32.

Former champion Andy Murray punched his fourth-round ticket at the US Open on Saturday with a 6-1, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Russia's Andrey Kuznetsov. (Djokovic Advances to 4th Round)

Britain's Murray, seeded eighth, will face either ninth-seeded Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta for a place in the quarter-finals. (Wawrinka Gets Walkover | Nishikori Wins)

Murray, the 2012 champion, hit 47 winners in his victory to book a seventh appearance in the fourth round. (Wimbledon Cham Kvitova Ousted)

"I got off to a good start and then had a cushion when he got back into the match in the third set," said 27-year-old Murray.

"I was pretty solid in the fourth set, there were long rallies. It was hard to get quick points as the court was slow."
