Swimmer Poncha out of Olympics contention

Indian swimmer Rehan Poncha failed to qualify in the 200m butterfly event at Olympics as he finished 40th out of the 44 competitors.

Indian swimmer Rehan Poncha failed to qualify in the 200m butterfly event at Olympics as he finished 40th out of the 44 competitors in heats at National Aquatics Centre here Monday.

The 22-year-old Poncha ended second in his heat, clocking 2:01.89 second behind the topper Niksa Roki of Croatia, who finished the race in 1:59.58 seconds.

Poncha, who is from Bangalore, was among the last to qualify for Olympics.
