India open Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships account with one gold, two silver

India opened their medal account in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships at Penang, Malaysia with Deepak Lather bagging a gold and two silver in the 50kg youth boys section on the opening day on Monday.
Lather's effort of 83kg in snatch fetched him a gold while he lifted 102kg to bag a silver in clean and jerk. His total lift of 185kg gave him another silver.
The competitions for the youth, junior and senior are being held simultaneously and India are being represented by 15, 15 and 11 weightlifters in the three sections, respectively.
