Heyneke Meyer Stands Down as South Africa Rugby Coach

Johannesburg:
Heyneke Meyer has stood down as coach after four years in charge of the South African rugby team, the Springboks. (Rugby World Cup: Dan Carter Shines as New Zealand Beat South Africa in Tense Semi-Final Game)
The South African Rugby Union said in a statement on Thursday that Meyer told president Oregan Hoskins and CEO Jurie Roux that he no longer wished to be considered as a candidate.
The statement said Meyer was doing it "in the best interests of South African rugby," after the team finished third at the recent Rugby World Cup.
