Seema Tomar brought glory to the country by winning the gold medal in the women's trap event at the 4th Asian Shotgun Championship on Sunday in Al Ain (UAE).
The 32-year-old from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh shot a 97 (72+12+13) in the final stage of the tournament to beat Mariya Dmitriyenko of Kazakhstan. This is Seema's best performance at the international level. In the 2010 World Cup in Dorset (UK), Seema had won a silver medal.
After firing a gold in the individual category, Seema also earned glory in the team event. Along with Shagun Chaudhary and Shreyasi Singh, she helped India win a team gold in the trap event, edging out heavyweights like Japan and China who won silver and bronze respectively.
