Google has a new Doodle. It is one which represents a sport that is perhaps, more beautiful than any other. Synchronised swimming made its Olympic debut in 1984 and has since been a highly anticipated event in the Games.
The current format as competitions taking place in two categories - team and duet.
The sport is a synthesis of swimming, gymnastics and dance, coming together to form an absolute delight for spectators and audiences. It may be a treat to watch the swimmers in action but it is actually, a very difficult sport to excel in. Training takes place in various forms and special care is taken the get the co-ordinations right.
Governed by the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA), the sport has largely been dominate by USA, Japan and Canada though others like Russia are emerging stronger with each passing event.
Google's Doodle features the animated synchronised swimmers forming a circle to make the second letter in what is an otherwise green backdrop representing a swimming pool.
