CSK saved their spinners in the earlier part of the innings, bringing on Imran Tahir to bowl only when Rishabh Pant was at the crease. Tahir took the wicket of Shreyas Iyer, his 24th scalp of IPL 2019.
The best bowling figures of the day belonged to Dwayne Bravo (2/19). Fittingly, Bravo was at the crease when the winning runs, four leg byes, came about in the CSK innings.
Rishabh Pant (38) was the top scorer for DC again, but even his scoring rate was shackled by CSK's bowlers. Moreover, he did not get support from any other batsman.
If DC had any hopes of pulling off a miracle after putting up only 147 in their 20 overs, the 81-run opening stand between Faf du Plessis (50) and Shane Watson (50) put paid to any such hopes.
