Roberto Carlos made his first start in Delhi Dynamos jersey as the Indian Super League (ISL) outfit held Danish club FC Vestsjælland to a goalless draw in their final pre-season friendly here. (Roberto Carlos named Delhi Dynamos marquee player-cum-manager)
This was the Dynamos' last game on foreign shores before returning to India for the second edition of ISL, starting on October 3. (Delhi Dynamos sign Riise)
With the Brazilian World Cup winner Carlos, who is the team's marquee manager cum player, featuring in the starting XI for the first time, Dynamos gave a decent account of themselves and shared possession with FC Vestsjælland, better known as FCV Vikings, at the Harboe Arena Slagelse.
Carlos and Robin Singh were the two new additions to the side that beat Skene IF in its previous pre-season game. The match got off to a slow start with neither team making much headway into the opposition defense, even though Dynamos seemed to enjoy possession.
John Arne Riise was particularly effective in his left-back role as Carlos kept the opposition at bay in midfield.
Dynamos had a chance in the 25th minute but Souvik Chakabarti and Gustavo Dos Santos' excellent work did not materialise in a goal, as Vincius smashed his effort against the crossbar.
Santos continued to threaten, but his through to Robin also did not yield the desired result as the Indian striker failed to get to the ball.
The second half began with two quick substitutions for the Dynamos as Carlos replaced himself with Serginho Greene and Adinga was brought in for Robert Lalthlanmuana.
Dos Santos continued to shine and nearly gave the Dynamos advantage in the 52nd minute with his solo dribbling run. There were no noteworthy attempts from either side thereafter as the match ended in a draw.
