Ishant to Blundell, appeal for lbw but umpire has turned it down!! India had gone for a review but the ball was clearly missing the wickets. Bad review by India and a good decision by umpire.
STUMPPED!! Big wicket for Axar Patel as he dismissed Tom Latham this time. Good stumping by KS Bharat!! Bharat has been brilliant with the gloves today and Axar Patel has come out as the best spinner for India even in the presence of Ashwin and Jadeja.
Former India captain and one of the best all-rounder Kapil Dev, said that Ravindra Jadeja has improved a lot as a batter but his form with the ball has dipped.
India have lost just two matches at home since 2012- one against Australia in 2017 and other vs England earlier this year. They have dominated in the longest format for the last 7 years, specially at home by staying in the top 3 of the Test rankings. New Zealand on the other hand have played Test cricket brilliantly in the last two years and defeated the favourites India in this year's WTC final at Southampton. However, this is the first series for them in WTC 2021-23 cycle.
Umesh to Ross Taylor, FOUR!! Taylor gets off the mark straight away with a boundary on his second ball. India can never forget the way he batted in the fourth innings during the WTC final in Southampton earlier this year that was also the last time Taylor batted in the longest format. 200 comes up for New Zealand.
India need wickets in the second session to stay in the game. Tom Latham has batted really well till now and he is getting close to his century. Umesh Yadav will finish his over.
Day 3 Lunch: Umesh Removes Skipper Williamson On Last Ball Of Session!
WICKET for Umesh Yadav it's LBW!! New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has to go. He had gone for a review but that too can't change the on-field umpire's decision.
Ashwin to Young, appeal for caught behind but umpire has turned it down. Confident new wicketkeeper KS Bharat and Ashwin wants the captain to go for a review. Rahane has gone for a review.
Maiden over from Ishant to start Day 3. He bowled with good pace, line and length in his first over. Good start for India but they still need the first breakthrough.
